Eye Of Judgment Shuts Down

Well, that’s the first PS3 first party online game to have its servers shut down, then, as a notice (via EG) on the EU forums confirms that the internet battle servers for quirky (but, yes, rather dull) augmented reality game Eye of Judgment will be closed this September.

“We at SCEE sincerely thank you for your continued support of THE EYE OF JUDGMENT,” it says.  “The online battle service for this product  will terminate on 30 September 2010.  Offline play will remain available even after the conclusion of online service.”

Rather cheekily, the notice still manages to get a quick advert in there for the PSP version of the game, though.  “We hope you will continue to enjoy both THE EYE OF JUDGMENT, and the latest addition to the series, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT: LEGENDS, available exclusively for the PSP.”

Reactions to the new from the community has been mixed at best, with a tiny number of people playing online presumably the reason for the closure.  Trophy hunters need not worry though, you don’t need to play online to get the Platinum, although you will need to purchase the latter two expansion packs.

  3. Used to play the game. But then I had to get a new PS3.

There are 1000’s of updates you have to download to play. I rather play something else then this update nightmare.

    • That is one reason to have playstation plus, I just load it up one time, exit game and let automatic update do the rest

  4. This looked like a good yu-gi-oh style game, never got the chance to buy it though cus of the price

  5. If anyone is interested in the game you can generally pick up the entire starter set inc ps eye , stand and matt for a very good price on ebay and will also set you up for ps move if interested.

  6. I bought it day dot, played it once, just used the cam (at the time it was the only way to get it…

    • yer, got scom for the headset! lol

  7. I did the same thing MICK939, that was the only way to get the Playstation Eye at the time, I will have to keep my updates updated then before the server goes down and hope my PS3 slim doesnt YLOD on me forever to keep all the updates for that game, wish me luck people.

    • I don’t think the multiplayer servers being shut off will stop the game updates being available, game updates as far as I know are separate.

  8. Noooooooooooo! :(

  9. Have had this for a while but have never played online. It’s a great game, I can spend hours playing it, but it can take too long to set it all up.
