We don’t bring you images of every new game’s box art. That would be silly, you’ll see it on the store shelves or when you click “add to basket”, right? It’s hardly “news” and it’s usually barely interesting so we tend to leave those reveals to other sources.
We couldn’t let this one pass though. This is the box art for this year’s installment of the biggest franchise in gaming: Call of Duty: Black Ops.
My personal opinion is that this is an utterly fantastic departure from the usual “moody soldier walking to camera” shot that we’ve been getting recently. This is dark, menacing and visceral. I love the fact that this is a photograph, a physical scene rather than one generated in a cubicle by a guy with more qualifications than friends. I really, really love this and if the game can live up to this high standard then I’m going to love that too. This is a great first volley in the point-of-sale battle from Treyarch and Activision.

Its definately different to the usual, and I really wanst a fan of the MW2 cover. Im glad its a real image though. Maturing the box art will hopefully (in and ideal world) help to mature the audience i.e. less annoying high pitched 12 year olds on the microphones.

This might just be the last CoD I get. Just because Treyarch made this one, and I’ll give them a shot. I have to admit, I still play MW2, but if this is better, then it’s bye bye to that. Cool box art, and that’s a good start.
