Final Fantasy XIV PS3 Is “100% Complete”

Having made our ‘top 100 most anticipated games of 2011’ list, it’s fair to say we are looking forward to the latest game from Square Enix.  Director Nobuaki Komoto has confirmed that the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV is “100% complete”.

“In terms of the port, the PC version is 100% complete and running on the PS3.  We’re currently busy optimizing PS3 performance to make it run as smoothly as possible. We’re doing everything we can to make it perform closely to the PC version, so it may prove to take more time to release.”

Without wanting to be negative, that does sound like another delay may be on the way.  Perhaps Kovacs should re-write his list after all?

  1. Oh well.. I hope they can patch the pc version (and the ps3 version) in the meanwhile.

  2. So it’s not really 100% complete. What a stupid statement!

    • That’s what I was thinking – 100% complete implies that it’s ready to ship.

    • I assume he means feature complete.

  3. Kovacs is not rewriting anything. Kovacs has enough to write! Kovacs SMASH!

  4. Then its still set for 2011 in Spring say March?
Just hope that all the problems are sorted or Sqeenixs repution would take a critical SUPER HADOUKEN!!

  5. I’ve been playing and following the PC version. Updates to make it better are happening but they are very slow.

Considering how ‘unpolished’ it is, I *think* there are only like 2 medium-big updates before Christmas.

Believe me, you wont want this before March.

It could be such an amazing game….. I really hope they turn it around!

    • Well it does have it’s perks but I’m still enjoying my time considering I got three free month of play. It’s definitely playable and enjoyable. The November / December updates bring huge improvements to the game and another huge patch is planned for early 2011 (probably PS3 release). “Only” two medium-big updates is a little harsh. Normally big updates are three month apart.

      • Same. Very unpolished game at the moment, but you can see the vast potential. I think SE have done a good job with the 3-free months of trial period, otherwise I would probably have just cancelled and waited for the PS3 version. As it is though, I have been encouraged to use my free time, and the updates announced so far are pretty huge. There will be another one due at the time of the PS3 release to add more content, so I’m sure things are going to improve.

      • I guess what I really should have said is that I would have expected to see them frantically churning out weekly maintenance patches full of fixes. Content updates are fantastic and 3 months apart is about right but I would have liked it if they focused on fixing the system that we ‘experience’ this content with :).

  6. the only way I’ll be getting this is if plus users get no montly payments.

    • So basically you want Sony to pay SquareEnix more than you pay for PSN+? Even XBox Live Gold members had to pay monthly fees for FFXI.

    • at least a discount

  7. sweet i’m still undecided if im going to play this or not based on what the community is saying about the pc version maybe i won’t but we’ll see.

  8. I really want to play this, i dont mind paying the subscription to play, my only problem is time, I just wont have enough hours to sink into this to make it worthwhile

  9. Aslong as its running well i dont mind waiting. I dont want them to release the complete game if it isnt optimised perfectly to run on a PS3

  10. the game is gonna suck anyway :p
