UK Industry Growth Up

The UK video games market has increased by 26% over 2007 figures, according to a report on GamesIndustry.biz which cites information from the big three chart groups.

This, coupled with a 15% growth in the US and a 13% decline in sales in Japan puts the UK in second place in the global market leaderboards. We are the second largest video game market in the world. Wow.

It really makes you wonder why the UK isn’t more important to publishers and platform holders doesn’t it? I mean, if the Street Fighter II HD Remix could sell that well in the US, just imagine how many extra sales they could have picked up if they’d bothered clicking the “upload” button on the UK store!
