German publishers Black Inc. have let us know that they’re working on a brand new off-road racing game dubbed Fireburst. The game, which is developed by Hannover-based exDream, is the publisher’s first PlayStation 3 title. The game will feature lots of four wheeled vehicles powered by the game’s innovate boost system and clever use of fire in both weaponry and special maneuvers.
For example, you can use balls of fire to make a rival car explode, or use it as a shield by coating your own car in burning white hot flames. The game will feature plenty of single player and multiplayer modes, and will come with a complete online section too. The publisher promises “brilliant” graphics, which use Unreal Engine 3 for dynamic objects and impressive light effects.
“With Fireburst, we have reached a new dimension in the racing game genre. This is largely due to the innovative boost system which allows players to attack and destroy opponents’ cars in different ways,” says Birgit Hönsch, divisional manager of Games Publishing & Licensing at RTL interactive GmbH.
Vehicles will range from sleek buggies and pimped-up vintage models to massive pick-ups, and the player can choose from a variety of distinct characters. With 20 tracks over various challenge and championship offline modes, 4 player split screen and 16 player online modes Fireburst sounds like it’ll have something for everyone. Fireburst from Black Inc. will appear in the 4th quarter of 2009 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
