Thanks to Twitter we finally have a date for when the Sky Player will become available on your Xbox 360, October 27. We were already fairly certain it would be this month after it got a mention in the last Sky Magazine.
“October 27 – that’s the date when you’ll be able to watch TV from Sky on your Xbox 360. Channel line-up and pricing to come at launch”, tweeted Graham Boyd, Xbox Community Manager for Europe.
The service will only be providing SD, not HD, content that will not be recordable. Sky is bringing a range of content such as movies, entertainment shows, documentaries, etc., as well as the sport coverage it is perhaps best known for.
Available in the UK and Ireland, the mix of live and on-demand TV will be available in packages of bundled content as well as shows being offered on a pay-per-view basis. Existing Sky customers will have access to their current packages.
The launch event alluded to in the tweet is set to take place next week.
