She’s only just arrived on the scene but Bayonetta’s creator, Hideki Kamiya, is already talking about putting the sensual witch out to pasture if a follow-up to the hit game ever happens.
Speaking in the March edition of Game Informer, Kamiya-san stated:
“Obviously [I] have love for the work we have created, so I don’t see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2. Personally, I’d like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off.”
Putting on our speculation hats, what this could actually mean is that Platinum Games are toying with the idea of expanding the Bayonetta universe by creating a “companion” game for the series. There’s no doubt that the world of Bayonetta is big and elaborate enough to cater for another character, but the idea of not immediately following up with another game starring the lascivious long-legged one sounds unwise to us; especially just as you’ve started to build a brand.
Maybe Bayonetta 2 plus another game at the same time? We’re sure to find out over the coming months.
