Gas Powered Games have announced the development of an RTS they describe as “something different” for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A real-time strategy game, Kings and Castles empowers players as one of three kings, each vying to dominate a unique fantasy world.
Interestingly, the Gas Powered guys are inviting potential players to partake of an insightful look behind the scenes while they make the game, allowing us mere mortals to get a glimpse of the creative process as the title takes shape. For more information of this sneak peek, check out the game’s official website and follow Chris Taylor, the game’s Creative Director, on Twitter for a blow-by-blow account of what it takes to make a game in today’s cut-throat environment.
“Synergy will be leveraged, and paradigms will be established. More importantly, buzzwords will be utilized.”
From the sounds of things, this won’t be a snooze-fest full of burn-rate charts and mind-numbing bug updates. Check out the first video cast below which went live yesterday for further proof.
K&C will feature some of the hallmark elements Gas Powered Games have leveraged in their other RTS games such as Dungeon Siege, Demigod and Supreme Commander. This includes the ability to zoom to any level across “eye-popping” maps.
We’ll finish with Chris’ pledge to future kings out there:
“We also promise to gouge evil from its shell at least once, or maybe twice. But not three times. That would be weird.”
