Game has begun to consult with its staff regarding their working hours with a view to changing them in the future. Staff in Game and Gamestation stores were told of the news during a meeting this morning. A spokesperson told MCV,
“Today we have held meetings with the teams in our stores to discuss ways that each store can better serve the customers in their local area, including a review of staff rotas and shift patterns.”
The changing of staff rotas could include redundancies although this would be a ‘last resort.’ Game staff may be worried as only recently the company shut 18 stores and closed all 25 concessions stores that were found within Debenhams across the country.
Game was also in the news last night when retail expert Nick Bubb of Arden Partners described the store as “a sitting duck” for predators, with its shares at a “derisory” rating.
Bubb also thinks HMV may be changing hands soon as it share prices have fallen as the chain comes under increased pressure from the internet and supermarkets. With the loss of Zavvi and Woolworths, Game and HMV are the last two high street giants who sell video games.
