Swedish developers, Starbreeze Studios have announced that they have cancelled an upcoming project which was being made for EA. The two companies are still hard at work on a second title however.
The cancelled project has not been revealed but Starbreeze were tasked with bringing the Bourne franchise back to consoles now that EA have the rights to the material. They were also working on Project RedLime – a game that is believed to be a revamp of the Syndicate franchise.
Project RedLime was announced way back in early 2008 and, at that point in time, the game was “deep in development”. According to Starbreeze, the cancelled title was in the pre-production stage. Talk of the Bourne game only started about a year ago. Starbreeze CEO Johan Kristiansson said:
Our relationship with EA is stronger than ever, and the aim now is to spend more resources on the game that demonstrated the greatest potential. This game is already in full production.
Starbreeze Studios are famous for The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and have said that the recent cancellation will not affect their staff levels or their projects with other publishers.
