The latest PS3 System Software update, which takes the console to version 3.21, has been the source of much discussion recently – with arguments both for and against the removal of OtherOS. In addition to the secret additions, it now appears that some users are finding there’s more bad news to behold than the absence of Tux.
The PlayStation Forums themselves appear to be the centre of much of the discourse: frozen screens, problems with downloading the update, the dreaded yellow light of death and the ability to use a Blu-ray disc after the update is complete. Of course, I (and millions of others) upgraded just fine, but these isolated incidents always rear their ugly heads.
Sony has yet to officially respond to the allegations that the firmware update is the root of these issues. If they do, we’ll let you know.
