Xbox 360 owners looking enviously at Sony’s PlayTV service might have something to shout about next year, if rumours are to be believed. According to Canadian site GameFocus, the Xbox 360 will be getting a HD, live television application in 2011, apparently to be announced this E3.
Coming from a ‘trusted source’ (GameFocus have even bolded it), the rumour suggests “something similar to Europe’s Sky TV” and including “PVR capabilities”. “In other words,” says the site, “it’s like putting Netflix, Zune Marketplace and Sky TV all in one place.” The service appears to be limited to the US and Canada.
Sony, that’s your cue to announce PlayTV HD. Go on.
