Kotick Wants COD Subscriptions

Mr Bob Kotick has been talking to the Wall Street Journal and has described how if he had his way, he would turn Call Of Duty in to an online subscription service ‘tomorrow’. His full comment was:

I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow. When you think about what the audience’s interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world. I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.

I think you are all intelligent enough to work out why Bob would want to make Call Of Duty pay-to-play. When asked if customers are ready for a subscription service Bob replied:

I think our audiences are clamoring for it. If you look at what they’re playing on Xbox Live today, we’ve had 1.7 billion hours of multiplayer play on Live. I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers. I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven’t really had a chance to do that yet, so that would be my snap of the fingers.

  1. Go ahead, make it subscription. It’ll just mean that I (who wants a good excuse to stop playing COD) and my friends will never buy another COD game.

  2. People say that wouldn’t pay for this but how many people said they wouldn’t buy MW2 and went onto do so. I’m not completely oppossed to this idea depending on the pricing. If it was say £5 a month which would equate to £60 a year it would be considerably better for me as it would only cost me £5 as I usually get bored of the game after a year.

    • I meant bored after a month

    • Well I bought MW2 and still play it, nearly everyday. I for one will have no problem switching to BFBC2 full time! I already told myself I’m not buying another COD again, unless they do some serious changes.

  3. Online subscription for Call of Duty? Just what we always wanted – paying for the privilege of being nuked and killed by campers with heartbeat sensors.

  4. Medal of Honor will be better than any dumb CoD game!

  5. This Bob Kotick guy is a complete fucking retard, excuse my french but it had to be said :D
