What We Played – MineGeon, Black Ops & Heave Ho 2

Call of Duty Black Ops PS5

Dom’s shirking his duties and has absconded off on holidays this week, though I’m led to believe that he’s taken his Switch 2 with him, so in a more technical sense, he is still getting in his mandated amount of gaming.

As for me, I hooked up with Miguel once more, so to speak, to go swinging, as it were, through Heave Ho 2, if you will, and we had a great time together, if you catch my drift. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve also kept dipping into 33 Immortals, for a very different style of multiplayer, though one with many, many more people. It’s become my gaming comfort food, though it’s a shame that I feel the playerbase thinning out.

Aran chimed in first, and he’s been playing Infinite Wealth some more. There’s just a few chapters left for him to get through and, having completed all of his side activities, he’s ready for it to be finite. He also handed in reviews for Avatar Legends and Shards of Order.

I keep misreading MineGeon: Renegades in my head, but sadly it’s a game that’s annoyed Jason the more that he plays it. Instead he’s been clattering through the final act of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – “The story is still mostly good, but it’s intensely goofy in parts, and it’s just stuffed with things designed to waste your time. I have mixed feelings on it.”

It’s been a busy review week for Gamoc, who played Planet Crafter, The Relic: First Guardian, Sephiria, and Montabi all for reviews. Steve has then had The Mound and Moonlight Peaks on the go for review, saying, “The former is a fantastic multiplayer game that definitely needs friends for full enjoyment and the latter is a fun Stardew Valley clone with a supernatural twist but a little lacking in content and variety.”

In stark contrast to both of those, Tuffcub has not played anything for review, and has instead been blasting zombies in John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando.

Toxic Commando zombie hordes

Miguel, when he left go of my hand for a minute, has played the “incredible murder mystery visual novel” Umineko, and a bunch of Marvel Tokon during its open beta weekend.

And finally, Jim jumped back into Marathon this week, amongst other things:

“The newly added experimental PvE mode wasn’t for me, sadly, though I did enjoy some solo runs when I was finally able to connect. I had a very different experience playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops port on PS5 which felt like stepping back into the PS3, for better or worse. While I do miss the slower, more simple brand of CoD multiplayer, it’s hard to find a lobby where Nuketown isn’t the only map on rotation. On the off chance that a different map is selected, some players will disconnect, which can lead to long host migration times (remember those?). Finally, in what felt like even more a throwback, I swap some game discs with an old friend of mine, picking up Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in the process which has rocketed its way to becoming one of my favourite games I’ve played in 2026.”

Now then, what have you played this week?
