PSP Firmware 6.30 Live

The PS3 wasn’t the only Sony console to receive a firmware update today. Firmware 6.30 is now live for the PSP and PSPgo. There is only one key difference I have found so far: at long last you can finally sort your games by format which should make locating your games a little easier.

What stands out is the list of formats available. As you would expect there are folders for PSP games, minis and PlayStation games but there are also two other folders, PCEngine and NEOGEO. PCEngine is the Japanese name for TurboGrafx-16.

Games for both of these formats have been available on the Japanese store for a while now. The fact they now appear on a worldwide update may suggest we could be seeing some retro games heading to the US and Europe in the near future.

  1. Ok, I’ve got a Japanese PSP and the Digital Comics don’t work due to compatibility. I get the feeling that if I update using the UK Firmware there’s a chance this will solve the problem.

The trouble I’m having is that when I try to dl 6.30 off of the uk.playstation website it isn’t actually downloading. I can click the “accept Ts & Cs” and click the download button but then it just links back to the same page.

Anyone got any ideas or a copy of the firmware? If you do, drop me a PM please.

  2. Well still no mention any where about the problem with folders not being there when you turn your PSP back on, i hope its something small that Sony can sort quickly otherwise this new feature is not really much good which is a shame.
