Too Many Zombies Can Ruin A Game

According to Dead Rising 2 co-producer Shin Ohara, there has to be some sort of moderation when it comes to filling your game with enemies.

Speaking with Gamasutra, he had the following to say;

“Last year at Captivate we did a demo. We had a strip — It was probably like 10 meters wide and 200 meters long. We filled it with about 7,000 zombies. After about 3,000, you can’t really tell the difference because it fills up the screen anyway. Over 3,000, it ruins the experience. It’s not a game anymore.”

He still maintains that the Dead Rising 2 engine could handle 7000 zombies at once if required.  We urge Capcom to do that – even if it’s just the once!  Petrol+lighter+7000 zombies = a happy TSA Team.

    Did they actually have to tést before knowing it wouldn’t be playable with too many zombies stuffed in a small space? =P

  5. IMO you can never have too many zombies. :p

  6. I remember playing Burn, Zombie, Burn, which I found terrible. Not my sort of zombie game at all. I’ve learnt my lesson when they’re just trying to up the numbers to impress. Sod that. Bring out a good game!

  7. Age of Zombies has a good number – enough to rack up the multipliers and make you give consideration to herding and not getting trapped.

  8. Never enough, i nice 7000 filled room would be great :P

  9. only 3000?
    that settles it, not buying it now. :(

  10. Just call me Rochelle, ill kill those zombies ;)
