Remember that PlayStation Eye you bought a few years ago, which has probably been gathering dust ever since? Well, this Autumn there is more reason than just PlayStation Move to dust it off.
Developers, Virtual Air Guitar Company have today released a new trailer for Kung-Fu LIVE ahead of next week’s Gamescom Trade Fair. As you can see the gameplay is reminiscent of the kind of titles that populated the PS2’s EyeToy and looks the just sort of thing that will go down a storm amongst friends, especially if drinks are involved. Kung-Fu LIVE is expected to be released on the PSN this Autumn.

Well I dont see any reason for Kinect now…

Yeah, this seems to suggest you don’t need Move for it… is this Sony reminding Microsoft who did it first?
Bilbo_bobbins
I think it is, clever and naughty at the same time.
Tuffcub
It’s a very unsubtle dig at Kinct, especially the way the video highights the Eye is doineg full body tracking.

…apart from it’s nothing to do with Sony, and is in fact a 3rd party game.

In fact other than using the Eye for data gathering it has even less to do with Sony than I first thought.
Instead of using any Sony PSEye libraries (if they exist) it uses the Virtual Air Guitar’s own technology for body capture, although it looks pretty rudimentary and some way from 47 point skeletal tracking, it certainly seems to to do the job on EyeToy like experiences (which would certainly cover a few of the Kinect titles we’ve seen so far)

A paperweight?
Bilbo_bobbins
ha ha ha, looks the nuts. Just shows how the Eye can do what Kinect can. I might buy this.

Looks… alright

Very impressed and think it’s brilliant, my lad will certainly enjoy this (he’s going through that phase where everything is about fighting with daddy).
So, why has it taken so long for such a game to come out? As you point out, my PS Eye has a thick layer of dust since we gave up on the frustrating Eye Pet.
BadBoyBoogie
Looks like it could be fun. :)

I really don’t know why we’ve only had one PSEye title since the handful of launch titles, pretty disgraceful – because if done even half well they’re all fun family and/or party experiences.
Move would then be a progression adding buttons, accuracy and 1:1 movement to the gesture based fun games.
Sony have missed a trick, as have Microsoft with the Xbox Live Vision cam – Perhaps not so many families would have rushed to buy a Wii if experiences similar to this had been available before now.

I personally couldn’t play this – I don’t have enough room, and would do serious damage if I tried. But his looks awesome, and the video is funny for so may reasons.
MrBilly
ha, well said. I’d basically need to be standing on my bed to play this game… which could come in beneficial as i’d have an extra spring to my kick…. no no, i don’t have enough space :(
djdustb
I have to get this, looks so much fun.

Just had the most bizarre conversation with my son (5 years old) about this game. I showed him a youtube Gamespot on-stage demo of this game and the conversation went something like…
Me ‘…so you could be fighting those people on the screen’
J ‘Can I be spiderman?’ (he has a spiderman costume)
Me ‘yes, of course. You could play in your pyjamas’
J ‘could I play in just my pants?’
Me ‘yes…’ (I knew where this conversation was going)
J ‘I would take my pants off… and wee in their faces so they can’t see!’
Me ‘hmmm, right.’

lol kids eh. he must of seen that from somewhere. Maybe his Dad has been doing the same on COD or BFBC 2 when he gets annoyed? ;-)
doomsday619
Lol my kids are the same but they are all WWE wrestlers my 6 year old wants this game since i showed him the video.

Will this open up the option to rerelease a load of 2d side scrollers where you replace the hero? Turrican, Strider, Ghosts and Goblins, Double Dragon, Golden Axe…..got to be worth a compilation disc….

They absolutely must do a 2d remake of Mortal kombat for this!
