The Internet buzz is that APB developer – Realtime Worlds – is in the process of making mass redundancies, which include the entire ‘MyWorld‘ team. A source has said the following to VG247:
“The MyWorld team has been completely laid off. As many as 60 may have gone, but there’s a rumour they may be trying to sell the team as a smaller entity. I don’t know the exact figure.”
Realtime Worlds remains unavailable for comment – so this is unconfirmed for now. It’s very sad if it’s true though.

Where are they based?

Dundee I believe..

Yip they’re from Dundee. It was pretty cool seeing some references to Dundee in the older GTA’s, like the Come to Dundee sign at the airport on Vice City.
This could be a sad day…

Though APB never appealed to me personally I always wished them the best since they’re local….hope this isn’t true.

APB didn’t go down very good with the critics. Also, I don’t think the game sold that good. A sad day indeed if the studio goes out.

Early sales weren’t bad IIRC, was on the Steam Charts for ages, but seems very small portion ended up subscribing.

i think people were expecting gta the mmo, but what they got were instanced deathmatches.
at least that’s what it seemed like from my limited time with the game.

Yeah, the game just didn’t play well at all. The customization aspects were top notch but to invest more than £100m in a new IP, never mind an MMO, when you are a studio that lacks a stellar pedigree was suicidal. Hate to see studios go down the toilet but they only have themselves to blame. Ambition is all fine and well but there are limits and £100m is beyond that.
