New MUBI Video Interview

James Gallagher has posted a new video interview with the founder of movie discussion service MUBI, Efe Cakarel, over at the EU PlayStation Blog.

In the interview, Cakarel discusses the interoperability between the online mubi.com site and the upcoming PlayStation 3 app, why he is looking forward to expanding the audience of the service from “hardcore cinephiles” to the PS3’s “entertainment enthusiasts”, and the joys of Hong Kong-based cinema.

Cakarel mentions that the PS3 app will be launching this autumn, and James confirmed in the comments that a launch date will be announced tomorrow at Sony’s Gamescom press conference.

  1. I’m really looking forward to this service. Anything that gets more apps onto the XMB is welcome but this sort of quality global cinema has the potential to really open up a new audience.
Plus, anything that promises Hong Kong cinema is an automatic win for me!

    • Have to admit that I’d never heard of this service, but like you say, anything that gets more apps on the XMB is welcome.

  3. I’m only going for free films, i’m not paying for ones that are on the PS store already.

  4. Looked at the MUBI website, feature films are £3, shorts for £1 and unlimited for subscribers. No mention of how much the subscription is tho.
