Bangai-O HD Heading To Xbox LIVE Arcade

D3 has announced that a HD version of the Treasure classic ‘Bangai-O’ will be heading to Xbox LIVE Arcade this autumn for a wallet friendly 800 MSP.  The full name is ‘Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury’ and it will ship with over 100 levels and a level editor tool which will allow you to share your levels with friends.

On paper Bangai-O sounds like a simple shooter, but it is insane.  A new version was released on the Nintendo DS a couple of years ago and there were so many bullets on screen at once it caused the DS to grind to a halt.  Granted that’s a fairly big design flaw, but one can only imagine the madness about to ensue with the power of the 360 on tap.

Check out the video of the DS game below for a taste of what to expect.  Got to love that slow down!

  1. Decent game when I played it on the DS, but far from Treasure’s best. If they put out a PSN version I’d consider it, but not if it’s at similar pricing to this 360 version.

  2. Had Bangai-O on the Dreamcast and absolutely loved it.

Not sure I can justify digging my launch core 360 out of its box (still worked last time I checked!) just for this though.

  3. This is the hardest game I have ever played! I managed about 3 levels before I had to turn it off and craw into a corner to cry.

    • *crawl rather

    • wow went to level 11 I think then I gave up….

  4. Played on DS and did not get it at all!

  5. I was disappointed with the DS version since it lacked a story…. yeah the level editor was cool but the newer Bangai-O can’t defeat the original. Is this injustice?
