October PlayStation Plus Content Announced

The EU PlayStation Blog has revealed the free content that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be receiving from 6th October to 2nd November.

In addition, those who purchase a years subscription between 1st September and 5th October will receive a copy of Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty free to keep (like the LittleBigPlanet offer for the first two months). It doesn’t appear that those who have already signed up will receive Quest for Booty.

Here’s the list:

  • PSN:
    • Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
  • minis:
    • Aero Racer
    • Yeti Sports
  • PSOne Classic:
    • Syphon Filter
  • Full Game Trials:
    • Gravity Crash (with Plus-exclusive 50% discount on purchase)
    • Hustle Kings (with Plus-exclusive 50% discount on purchase)
  • Exclusive Discounts:
    • Burn Zombie Burn (and free exclusive Home item for Plus subscribers who purchase)
  • Dynamic themes:
    • Exclusive Move ‘Start the Party’ theme
    • Exclusive Halloween theme
  • Premium avatars:
    • Pain: Jarvis and Le Toot
    • SingStar: Wannabe and Rising Star

October looks to be a bit light on the discounts compared to previous months, and there doesn’t appear to be a free item of DLC included either this time around. Of course, this list comes with the note that extra content will show up during the month not yet announced. So what do you think, subscribers?

  1. Sweet! Been wanting Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for ages but just never forked out the cash.

    • Same here

I was always scared it would have aged as badly as MK, so I never bought it.

    • Was really tempted to picked up recently as it was discounted, but had too many other games to play. Glad I held off.

    • Same here, this Plus stuff has thrown up some good content for me so far…. will be playing Sam and Max thanks to Plus this month. So far its been worth the cost.

  2. Not a great month, the ommission of DLC concerns me, as then the ‘extra’ we get during the month is just a spin on what we are entitled to by subscribing.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, as I have been more than satisfied with the monthly offerings so far.

    • Too true, there’s nowt I fancy there.

    • The fact that the initial Plus lineup for October is so threadbare would suggest that they’re doing the old DLC trick of holding it back to release / announce it later – of course only for kudos and not cash, but it’s still a trick.

  3. Trailing off a bit now… if they don’t keep the momentum going how do they expect to entice new people? PS what a GIP that we don’t get the ratchet and clank bonus when we’ve already signed up, wheres the loyalty rewards Sony?!

    • its one of the reasons i haven’t signed up. IMO, Sony should allows subscribers of PSN+ to ALL features and offers regardless of sign up date. Doing that will make it more of a club, and with each month that passes, add value to the service. Once your subscription ends, all the content is stripped from you PS3. Doing it they way they are, is just leaving people sour.

      • Completely agree, once again the content is terrible IMO. One thing that I was thinking of buying recently was this R&C funny enough, so for £40 a year, this might actually be worth it for me. One thing stopping me is the crappy content Sony give out each month. Most of the time it’s stuff people have already bought.

  4. I made the mistake of buying SSF2THD (jeez!) on xbox when it came out, bloody dpad sucks dunnit! Glad it’s a PSN+ freebie, it’ll get the attention it so deserves from me now :)

  5. Lame I already have street fighter. Plus is annoying me as I no longer want to buy psn games invade they turn up on plus. I already had over half the stuff that came with plus.

    • Thats the same problem I have…i want Joe Danger, but not gonan fork out the cash then have it pop on PSN+ in 2 months time…

      • They should credit a small amount into your account if you already have a title. Not much obviously but it’d take the sting off.

      • @ 3shirts – cant really do that though as once the subscription ends, Sony would be out of pocket on the original sale. What would be easier, is give a time that games arrive on PSN+. So, for example, Joe Danger could have a disclaimer on the PSN saying that it will become a PSN+ featured game in XYZ months time. that then gives people the choice to wait and play an old game, or get it new and pay.

      • Thats a good idea bajere. I would probably sign up then, as it seems they dish out old PSN stuff all the time. No point buying it new for P+ at the moment.

  6. well it sure seems those lovely free minis from firstplay have turned out to be free for plus members as well, shame i already own street fighter 2, as i bought that instead of 4 when it finally got its uk release

  7. Damn, the only thing that interests me out of that list is Ratchet and Clank and I can’t get it as I have been a PS+ member since the start…
Still, I have easily got my £40’s worth in the first 3 months so I can’t really complain about a ‘duff’ month here and there.

    • I feel quite the same. Now I just hold off getting anything unless its somthing I really want.

    • Yeah, that’s how I feel too.

  8. Hmmm i hope they add a bit more and i would rather have R&C over LBP, why cant we have both

  9. very dissapointing month imo, most people prob already have streetfighter, either bought it or has sf4. The themes dont exactly fill me with joy either. Quest for booty for everyone would certainly make it a worthwhile month. oh well, roll on sam&max later this week!

  10. I think i’ll be getting this at the end of september, i’ll get all of sam and max and abe’s odyssee and all the stuff from this month (plus R+C). Looking forward to it :)
