360 Next For Heavy Rain Dev?

David Cage, the founder of Heavy Rain’s developers Quantic Dream, has talked about exploring other opportunities for the company’s next project. The success of the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain seems to have whetted Cage’s appetite for sales.

When asked “[with Heavy Rain] Do you ever regret sticking with one platform?” Cage replied “No, honestly, no. I’m absolutely happy with the agreement with Sony, it was the perfect move. It was the right platform for what we wanted to achieve”

“The question is more for us now, with Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms. Now that we’re established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more. There are pros and cons and it’s not an easy decision.”

The pros obviously are, enabling more people to appreciate your game and obviously the greater revenue opportunities. On the downside you tend not to get the same level of platform-holder’s support when you embark on a multi-platform project.

Cage went on to add that they weren’t looking at anything specific, just that they were asking the questions and exploring the options.

It’s not yet known what Quantic have up their sleeves, but it is said that Cage isn’t interested in making a sequel to Heavy Rain next. Personally, I’m hoping for a sequel to the Dreamcast’s Omikron: Nomad Soul although reading the solitary paragraph about Omikron 2 it sounds like the computing power needed may not be around for a few years.

  1. Noo stick to PS3 or give 360 users a really crappy port and put it on 5 discs like us PS3 users have been suffering for the past 3 years with crappy ports.
I say stick exclusive as MS is a greedy company and I hate the 360 unless someone sells me the new 360 cheap but it has to be hacked for free games or jtagged xD

    • While I personally would rather Sony didn’t lose any exclusive devs to multiplatform development, if they did make a port, what benefit is it to you if it’s rubbish?

Also, your “I hate the 360 unless someone sells me the new 360 cheap” sounds more like “I can’t afford a 360” rather than “I hate the 360”.

I presume these “free games” you’d want it hacked for are legally obtained?
