DJ Hero 2 has yet to hit the decks (see what I did there?) but that has not stopped Activision producers talking about the third game in the franchise.
Nintendo World Report attended an event on September 23rd that previewed DJ Hero 2 and they asked Doug Grutzmacher, an Associate Producer at Activision, what could be expect ed for DJ Hero 3.
“I can’t talk about anything [specifically], other than saying that the direction we took from DJ 1 to DJ 2 in terms of broader music, more creativity, customization and more social elements to get more people involved in the game – that’s the direction we’re going to continue to go as we take the franchise [forward]. More things along those lines, but that’s about as specific as [I can get].”
Not much in the way of solid facts but that does confirm that Activision have a third DJ game in the pipeline. After a rather poor start DJ Hero (the first) has now racked up an impressive 1.6 million sales thanks, in part, to significant price cuts;
“We definitely had spikes around when there were price drops. My own personal opinion is that it was too expensive when it was first released,” said FreeStyleGames Jamie Jackson, ” We’re addressing that this year – [DJ Hero 2]’s going to be cheaper when it comes out this year.”

My DJ Hero 1 arrived today, decks and all for £20! Had a good blast earlier, loving it so far.

Pre-owned from game.co.uk, but it’s spotless.

Much appreciated, I’ll have to look into it. :)

But the DJ deck just has NOWHERE near the broad appeal of a guitar.

Doesn’t matter – as long as 1.6 million people find it has appeal, that’s enough recurring revenue to make endless sequels worth it financially.
