You might think you’ve heard everything about the Gran Turismo 5 delay tonight, but you’d be wrong. According to the New York Times, who are citing a telephone interview with Taku Imasaki, the game’s North American producer, the decision to delay the game was made just yesterday.
“We’re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday,” Imasaki said. “Realistically,” he continued, “we thought we had a good date. We’re not happy over here.”
The Times says that Imasaki is “is shooting for it to be out by the holidays” and that we “won’t see too much more delay.” These comments don’t sound particularly concrete to me, the producer not committing to a specific date suggests there’s a little more work to be done to the game before it’s ready.
Discussion is floating around this evening that Sony might be wanting to ensure firmware 3.50 is required for the game, locking out potential piracy. There’s no evidence to support this, but the New York Times suggests another theory: that the company might not have “sufficient supplies of the game to meet demand”.
You can read my personal blog on the situation here.

Polyphony Digital just made my descission between GT5 and LBP2 very easy. Can’t say that I’m surprised.
nemesisND1derboy
LBP 2 was delayed until next year, haven’t you heard?

No… ;_;

I dont really get that reason. If they can’t produce enough for launch, why not just sell the ones they currently have and produce more as fast as possible. The idea of “we haven’t got enough for everyone so no one can have it yet” seems illogical.
Also, look at the Wii. That sold out quickly and the shortage only made for greater demand

Just shut up and release the f**king game.

They can have all time they need… I don’t care I’m fed up with the quality of alot games today….

Wow Sony really have a bit of trouble on their hands if GT% doesnt make it out before Christmas (it wont, I have a feelingm you heard it here first folks). With LBP2 delayed and this as well, what exclusive games are there? I cant think of any. And even if there are some, the fact I cant think of them isn’t good.
And Move hasn’t exactly shot off has it. Kinnect is gonna make a bang and MS will win Christmas once again. Oh Sony, when will you learn?

“sufficient supplies of the game to meet demand” How pissed would you be to wait this long to find out they’ve run out of copies. Maybe pre-order sales are higher than expected, or maybe it is just Sony wanting to firmly rule-out piracy.
Dunks
i bet my PS3 this sucker aint out by christmas… aaaaarrrrrhhhh!!! Frustrating as hell….
BadBoyBoogie
I fear you could be right, but I’m not willing to bet my PS3!!! ;)

I really don’t know why (at time) we all bother any more. We’re dealing with people who, at times, don’t seem to be able to tell the difference between their arse and their elbow.
So we’ll have another month (or three) of magazines doing more pointless articles (Previews, Tasters, Hands-on, interviews about how good the game is) about a game that may be out sometime, or not.
