So the first race of the TSA F1 Championship has been completed and the results are in.
Championship A
A rather eventful qualifying session saw lots of aborted laps, many went off onto the grass and gravel, and plenty of spins taking front wings off and puncturing tyres. Sadly, we were missing Aerobes (who had mistaken the start time as 6pm instead of 5pm), and Spooferbarnabas was replaced by AG2297. Camdaz’s PS3 froze mid way through the session and Gazo69 mistakenly quit the race when he was stuck in a gravel trap. Through it all, Beelzie came through with a 1:27.1 to take pole ahead of Daywalker and Manorhowze.
We kicked off the race with a fairly clean and tidy first corner, followed by a mighty crash filled second corner with half the reduced field getting caught up in the fun. This set Manorhowze right onto Beelzie’s tail, and his pressure soon paid off as Beelzie went wide, then span and ended in the trap, leaving Manorhowze and Reck46 to proceed through the rest of the race in 1st and 2nd. Behind them, though, Teflon, AG2297 and Daywalker switched places plenty of times, with spins a plenty, punctures, being held in the pits and more keeping their order fluid right up until the home straight, leaving Daywalker ahead of Teflon by just 0.1 seconds!
The back three, though, faced problems. Matty, SpikeyMikey and AG2297 saw their racing lines disappear on them, making their race incredibly hard, whilst Heedbaw touched the grass on one corner and swerved into a barrier in a fairly spectacular end to his race.
The final standings were:
- Manorhowze – 25 (points)
- Reck46 – 18
- Beelzie14 – 15
- Daywalker – 12
- Teflon – 10
- Spooferbarnabas – 8
- Matty – 6
- SpikeyMikey23 – 4
- Heedbaw – 2 (DNF)
- Gazo69 – 1 (DNS)
- Cam the man – 0 (DNS)
- Aerobes – 0 (DNS)
Championship B
With a full 12 driver lobby, qualifying started. Sadly Djkaty was missing but Spooferbarnabas was on hand to cover for her. Qualifying went reasonably calmly, with a few spins and punctures. At one point there was contact between a couple of the drivers but a quick apology was made and it didn’t affect the results. JamboGT had a strange bug where only he appeared on the track and all our cars became invisible to him, while some of his laps were failing to register. Luckily for him one of the laps did manage to get through giving him pole position with a 1.27.3. Unfortunately freezebug2’s PS3 froze causing him to be ejected from qualifying and not long after, Ro6afc11 lost connection from the game and was also ejected.
That meant there were ten of us for the race. The first corner was pretty chaotic with almost all the front runners coming into mild contact and spinning. Soon after some of the drivers noticed their racing line had disappeared, as it did for some in Championship A, giving them an extra challenge. No damage seemed to have been done though, as by the end of lap 2 the order was almost re-established. On the fourth lap the majority of the drivers pitted meaning a very busy pit lane. Spooferbarnabas managed to come out in front of two cars that were previously behind him due to a fast pit stop. The race continued without much contact being made between the cars. The order changed quite often with cars spinning frequently, but JamboGT managed to keep his cool and gain the first win of Championship B. Ashgraham wasn’t far behind to take second, with Michi coming in a solid third.
The final standings were:
- JamboGT – 25
- Ashgraham99 – 18
- Michi – 15
- Djkaty – 12
- Yersal – 10
- Charles Logan – 8
- Gernboes – 6
- AG2297 – 4
- duncanuaz – 2
- Josh653 – 1
- Ro6afc11 – 0 (DNQ)
- Freezebug2 – 0 (DNQ)
Championship C
Two reserves were needed in this championship with tom_lord covering for stingraz and tonyyeb covering for Kamikaze-UK (who had the nerve to put the birth of his son before a race on F1 2010; the cheek of some people).
Tom_lord managed to secure pole during qualifying in what was some extremely heavy rain. During the race though he spent a lap too long on his options and ended up spinning out and losing his front wing, meaning he lost time returning to the pits. Punctures were the name of the game with LFC-Gaz, Baxteros, Squalje and SuperJag86 becoming victims. Luckily for Superjag his puncture came just as he was entering the pits meaning he lost very little time.
Battles were fought during the race between Colin and Baxteros with both drivers side by side at one point before both missing their braking points and running off the track. Later on Colin was following baconsarnie for several laps but couldn’t quite make it past him, but his patience paid off as baconsarnie made an error and ran off leaving Colin to take second place.
The final standings were:
- SuperJag86 – 25
- Colinbarr66 – 18
- baconsarnie – 15
- Baxteros – 12
- stingraz – 10
- Kamikaze-UK – 8
- Wick15 – 6
- DJ_Judas – 4
- icuyesido – 2
- LFC-Gaz – 1
- Squalje – 0 (DNF)
- Sympozium_666 – 0 (DSQ)
Congratulations to Manorhowze, JamboGt and SuperJag86 on the first wins of the Championship.
Next in the racing calendar is Shanghai. A huge straight followed by a very tight hairpin makes this track all about the top speed of your car, timing, and braking. Not to mention a deadly pit stop entrance that could easily see you destroying your car. The week after next will see us racing at Monaco; a street circuit that takes no prisoners so expect to be replacing front wings and punctured tyres often on this track.
How was the first Championship race for you? Do you fancy your chances on the next track? Any predictions on next week’s winners? Let us know in the comments below.

I want to apologise again for my absence – real life prevailed – and thanks to Spoofer for racing for me. I doubt I would’ve finished as well as 4th :P
Ro6afc11
Good write up AG and thanks for announcing next two tracks. Good choices I would say. Will be getting some practice in from this evening and keeping my fingers crossed for some better luck on Monday.
Yersal
Shame you lost connection, very frustrating when it doesn’t normally happen too
Yersal
I’ve not been on the Shanghai circuit yet, better get some practice in if I want to stay competitive.
Liberi Fatali
It isn’t enjoyable to race if people aren’t going to race properly I’m not going to bother anymore
Baxteros
Sounds pretty sour, toys and pram come to mind. Who didn’t conduct themselves properly and did you ot report them?
AG2297
I didnt realise you were racing in this competition? :S
Or are you talking about online in general?
Yersal
I’ve had a few races online where people go out of there way to take you off the track. But the majority of races I’ve been in have been very enjoyable and honest
Liberi Fatali
Yes in general
Matty
anyone from TSA that come to the meets and stuff will get out of your way and try their best not to hit you. Sometimes it is unavoidable though
cam the man
I just hope I can get to race this time, I was well pee-ed off when my PS3 froze.
Charles Logan
Oh looking forward to Monaco (going to be chaos), but I’m not good on Shanghai. :/ Anyway I had great fun. I got a 10secs penalty early in the race, cos I spinned and my car was out of control & people crashed into me. lol. Surprisingly I still managed to finish 6th. But it’s going to be harder next week if all 12 cars start and not only 10. Good race everyone.

I was so disappointed not to be able to take part in the race! Ah well roll on the next round =)
JamboGT
Shanghai is a good track, I foresee quite a few issues in the first (few) corners. It tightens, its bumpy and then it turns in on itself!
If anyone wants a tip it would be this, get a car that is fast and stable through the S bend before the double left. Sort that out and the car should work anywhere on Shanghai.
