New F.E.A.R 3 Trailer Shows Mech Combat

A new trailer for F.E.A.R 3 has been released, this time focusing on the mech combat.  My own personal experience of the F.E.A.R 3 mech combat isn’t great as during my hands on at Gamescom I managed to get the character into a compound which housed two mechs, which sounds great, but unfortunately after getting into one of the mechs I couldn’t find my way out of the compound, and during my escape efforts managed to launch missiles at the wall next to me, and as you can guess that didn’t do me much good.

Stupid missiles.

  1. Ok, I may never have played FEAR 1 or 2 having been put off for a number of reasons – but I don’t see how mech combat has any relevance to the rest of the game, from having watched the other trailers. Is it just something tacked on, or does it actually have a place in the story?

    • Not sure to be honest – I’ve never really been in to the FEAR franchise.

    • I’ve never played them either, but I’m guessing there’ll be larger than usual ghosts/demons to deal with.

    • In FEAR 2 the enemies used the mechs to fight you with and you got to use a one at a few points throughout the game, although they were no where near as agile as the ones shown in this trailer. It was fun using them in FEAR 2, but yes, it seems to be tacked on with a mallet here.

  2. Is this a different game that they’ve accidentally named FEAR 3? What the hell! *rubs eyes*

  3. The first Fear game was a letdown on PS3, mainly due to slow loading and blurry graphics.
I played Fear 2 twice from the beginning (on 2 diff PS3s) but each time it froze about 2/3 way through so i never completed it. I could never find anyone else who had that problem so it may have been a disk manufacturing error.
There were a few billiant scary moments along the way, indeed some of the most unsettling moments i’ve ever had playing a video game but the ‘atmosfear’ isn’t maintained throughout like with Dead Space. I’ve always felt like Fear was 2 games, you have alternating shooting and ‘fear’ sections. Definitely worth a playthrough though and hopefully the freezing issue i had was isolated.
I’m not sure where the mech combat will fit in here but i don’t think it will add to the fear.

  4. i always thought Fear was a horror shooter…
I don’t think that sitting in a save mecha suit will help the horror side much….

i’m really wondering why they made this decision….

    • Unless Alma floats by in her bigger scarier mech suit :O

  5. Well, it looks better than Front Mission Evolved.
