New Vegas DLC 360-Only?

We’re playing through as much of Fallout: New Vegas as we can before our review tomorrow but we were just interrupted by melodic chime of an email arriving in our inbox. Bethesda are letting us know about the plans for the first lot of downloadable content for this week’s hotly anticipated post-apocalyptic jaunt.

According to the press release:

The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

No mention of Sony’s side of the multiplatform release getting any loving but we suspect that this will possibly just be a timed exclusive as it was for 2008’s Fallout 3.

Fallout: New Vegas is released tomorrow in North America and on Friday in the EU. We’re currently under review embargo so we can’t tell you what we think of the game but call back to TSA at 3PM tomorrow and bask in the radioactive glow of our full review.

  1. Not a problem. I’m unlikely to be getting this at launch anyway. I’ll be waiting to hear if they’ve fixed all the bugs in the Fallout 3 engine first, or whether it’ll be another 80+ hours of freeze, crash, reboot like the last game.

And if it is, I probably won’t bother getting it at all.

  2. maybe i should just wait for the game of the year edition, though if borderlands is anything to go by scee have made those impossible for europe now, the bunch of, i won’t say what i really want to call em so lets go with, twats.

    • What do you mean? It’s available on Play for £30. http://tiny.cc/ifv5d

    • that’s weird, i searched for it earlier on play but i’m sure it didn’t come up.

and i’m sure i remember reading it wasn’t going to be on ps3 in europe.
something do do with that not being allowed to have dlc on disc and on the store in scee territories.

anyway, i’m glad to be wrong in this case. :)

though this, “Borderlands: Game Of The Year Edition Includes Tokens To Download All 4 Add-On Packs:”, really puts me off buying it.
not like they can use lack of space as an excuse.

      • Wow, I actually completely forgot I had Borderlands until now. Time to get back into it again me thinks. By the way, I tried adding you on PSN a while back but haven’t got a response. Is your PSN the same as your TSA ID?

  3. Makes me glad Fallout’s one of the games I play on my PC. If the DLC’s coming for XBawks, then I’ll bet it’s coming for PC.

So get your glasses ready, children. The caravans are comin’.

    • Rephrase: Anything on XBox is likely available on the PC, but better.

  4. oh ffs why do ms always get exculsive dlc?

    • Probably because they can afford to throw away more cash than Sony.

  5. Fuck sake im fed up of this, i want this on ps3

  6. well this has made my day!!

I’m glad really. That’s why I fallout 3 lasted me so longnon the ps3. I’m sure by the time it’s come on th ps3 I’ll still be cracking on with hardcore mode and the platinum, with something to still to look forward to from the game.

Rather than owning an xbox and having all my new Vegas eggs in one basktet

  7. Well I haven’t come remotely close to finishing Fallout 3 in nearly two years (I’ve restarted it more times than I care to remember) and I only got the DLC with this week with Plus, so neither New Vegas or it’s DLC interest me at the moment.

  8. Just playing through the FO3 DLC now, by the time i’ve started playing through New Vegas the PS3 DLC will be out!

  9. I can’t believe a Fallout team would lock out DLC to their PC players, isn’t the PC crowd Fallout’s bread and butter? I suppose since this is a ‘steam’ game as opposed to a ‘Games for Windows Live’ Microsoft could extend their exclusivity to cover it but surely Bethesda (Obsidian?) would be shooting themselves in the foot since most of their long term fans would be buying on PC.

Also plenty of sequels are built upon the same engine as their predecessor, doesn’t make it an add-on just cause they decide to save a year or two of development. In fact it makes it more likely it’ll be a more stable experience since they’ll have had time to tweak the original engine.

  10. I really don’t understand how this is suppose to persuade gamers to get an Xbox 360. Surely the PlayStation 3 and PC communities will just hold a grudge. I’ve got an Xbox 360 and I do enjoy it but I’m getting the game for PlayStation 3. I hate multiplatform games for many reasons, this being one of them, but timed exclusive content isn’t enough to change my buying habits.
