TSA’s Top 100 of 2011 – #94 Two Worlds II

European PC and 360 owning fans of high-adventure and low-cut braziers can get their hands on Polish studio Reality Pump’s Two Worlds II before the year is out, we’re promised a version for the PlayStation 3 sometime next year.

A sequel to the 2007 RPG (which only saw a release on PC and 360), the game is set five years after the cataclysmic events on its predecessor. Dark Lord Gandohar appears to feature once again, with the following blurb from the official site setting up the background.

The hero is a prisoner in the dark dungeons of Gandohar’s castle and any hopes he has of saving his sister seem to have vanished along with his freedom.

However, just as his despair has reached its lowest ebb, a faint ray of hope appears from a completely unexpected direction. The hated Orcs have put together a rescue squad and the hero is amazed when they free him from the chains of his tormentors.  Still skeptical about this newfound truce between two races which have always been deadly enemies, the hero once again finds himself confronted by a completely new situation… now he has to find out why the Orcs helped him – and learn as much as he can about their mysterious leader, the legendary Prophet Cassara. She is both beautiful and mysterious – but the hero must trust her if he has to have his long-planned revenge.

We’ve got a few fantasy-flavoured games to look forward to next year, more than just this particular entry making our hallowed, sacred consensus. Where Two Worlds II will finally rank among its sword and spell wielding bedfellows after we’ve actually played them remains to be seen. For now, we’re willing to tentatively accept Two Worlds II’s quest, our interest moderately piqued.

  1. Hmm.. I never heard of this game before. I’m interested in this one.

  2. This sounds very interesting but I think a game in the same kind of genre should be coming which im really excited about- The Witcher 2. No official release date for the console versions though sadly, so I expect it wont be in your top 100 list. If The Witcher 2 isnt coming, ill be looking into getting this game instead as it sounds the same sort of thing. Thanks Kovacs, I hadnt heard of this game before.

    • I would love The Witcher 2 to come out for PS3 next year. I really enjoyed the first on the PC and what stood out for me was that the Developers were great at supporting their product and listening to feedback, on top of putting out a class game.

    • You’re welcome.

Regarding Witcher 2: this list includes PC titles so it definitely qualifies. I’m not saying it made it into the top 100, mind. But it did receive votes among the team accordingly.

  3. Great article Lee got me very interested in this one. Will keep an eye out for this. But I have never played the 1st one before (2007)
Does anyone think I should, if it helps me to follow/understand the storyline?

  4. even if i wasn’t worried about the quality of the game given how god awful the first one was, they’ve decided to delay the uk launch, they’re scared of the competition basically, so lets just say i’m not very enthused about two worlds 2, maybe i’ll pick it up preowned in a year or two.

  5. Lovely Fringe reference there :-)

  6. The first one was absolutely terrible so I really hope this justifies being in this list. The voice acting in the original was so bad it ws a joke. And combat didn’t work too well either. If this isn’t a ten-fold improvement then it’ll be a waste of my time.

  7. Um. This game came out in Norway last week. From all accounts,it sucks.

  8. This looks better than the first Two Worlds already. The first was dreadful.

  9. I find it hard to believe that a company responsible for the horrid mess that was the first Two Worlds game, can pull their act together and create something that is actually quite good. If they can, then what the hell were they playing at the first time round?! That game was a joke.

  10. I actually completed the first two worlds, had nothing else to play at the time…
