Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Xbox 360 Update Today

Xbox 360 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 fans will be pleased to hear that the game is due to get a few nips, tucks, and tweaks today as part of an update.  The list of changes is as follows:

  • Acog and Red dot scope now equippable on MK-14 and G3.
  • Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended.
  • Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23.
  • Fixed a bug where Vehicle Countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed.
  • Reduced the reload time for Vehicle Countermeasures.
  • Slightly increased the AT4’s damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor.
  • Increased the AT4’s top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing.
  • Increased the AT4’s splash damage so it competes with other AT weapons vs infantry. The AT4 still has the least splash damage of all AT weapons.
  • Reduced the splash damage of the Carl Gustav to bring it in line with other explosive weapons. The Carl Gustav still has the most splash damage of all AT weapons.
  • Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire.
  • Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons.
  • Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%.
  • Fixed a C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert.
  • Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911.
  • Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role.
  • Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR.
  • Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs.
  • Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMGs.
  • Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons.
  • Slightly increased the damage of the UH6

Players may experience outages or lag until 9am GMT tomorrow morning whilst the update takes place.

  1. Im going to start playing this agin soon in time for the vietnam DLC. (by the way is it single player or multiplayer DLC) plus im getting bored with black ops already.

    • I’ve always thought that Battlefield BC2 is a better multiplayer game than Black Ops, but you’ve just gotta love killing those zombies!

      • I agree overall BFBC 2 is much better experience. I got bored with the crate bashing though, maybe people have stopped doing it. Really looking forward to Vietnam.

      • ah you see, i cant stand zombies, didnt like them in W@W and dont like them in this. Im really not into zombies one bit. I love BFBC2 but got a bit bored and annoyed of it. I personally preferred MW2 in the end and played it a lot. But the new DLC is gonna get me playing Battlefield again. Will probably load it up when i get home at 3.

      • I suppose zombies are like marmite… apart from the fact they’re not a thick yeasty spread contained in a glass jar.

I’m really hoping the Vietnam DLC will be awesome, I’m very much looking forward to it. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of those flamethrowers!

  2. Been playing this again since the PS3 update last week. Having the ACOG on the M14 is like the Assault class having their own personal sniper rifle. Lovely! Beats Cod anyway.

  4. The size of the update last week was 2gb ! This surely then includes VIP map-pack (new maps at last!) and Battlefield Vietnam or just one of them . No way where those fixes 2gb worth , when i saw this headline i thought it was to say that the new maps had gone live . That is the only thing that could drag me from GT5 .
Finger crossed that now the 360 is getting the (ahem) update the maps will go live in the next 7 days perhaps.

    • erm .. fingers crossed ! as technically that would be more difficult than winning the Samba Bus challenge .

    • I’d assume the new VIP maps are included as well.

    • well if you read the post on the battlefield blog about the update when it launched for ps3 it did state it also was making preperations for vip map pack 7 and vietnam hence the size. though strangly the post states the pc/ xbox patch is 2.6gb in size where the ps3 version was couple hundred mb under 2gb

    • I’m sure the update already includes the Vietnam expansion. They did the same with the Onslaught DLC: a large patch with the game data and a small unlock file when you purchase the DLC.

  5. I haven’t played this in a few weeks. Got Black ops & started playing that but I haven’t even bothered with that since GT5 came out.

I think I’m sick of Black Ops already as well & that’s something that never happened with MW2 despite its flaws. I think the endless server problems have finally taken their toll.

    • Im in the exact same situation, Much preferred MW2. Ive just been reading about the vietnam DLC and im going to get it, it sounds great. New Weapons, vehicles, maps, voiceovers and a vintage ‘nam’ soundtrack (48 tracks including flight of the valkaries!!) Im in, gonna get the patch downloaded later today ready!

      • Mikey, up for a game or two together? Just started playing again last night.

      • yes mate, ill be home around 3 and after the patch has downloaded, should be on by around 4-5 till the late evening!

  6. DAMN YOU DAN LEE!!!! When I saw the Bad Company headline I assumed it was the announcement that the new maps were live!
I completely ignored the fact it said ‘Xbox 360 Update Today’ even thought I read it! My super shite day at work suddenly became bearable for a split second

  7. that’s cool and yes BFBC2 is so much better than COD.
