Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Teaser Hits

Entertainment Weekly has just posted up the epitome of a teaser for next year’s Uncharted. Subtitled “Drake’s Deception”, the third part is indeed set in the desert. As reported on the site:

The story focuses on the hero’s relationship with his mentor and father figure, fan fave Victor “Sully” Sullivan, and has him searching for a legendary lost city that will ultimately take him to the Arabian Peninsula and the vast wasteland of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter.

The plot of Uncharted 3 draws more from Drake’s exploits as well as from the life of T.E. Lawrence – not from his militant days as the fabled “Lawrence of Arabia,” but rather the Brit’s early years as an archaeologist.

Check out the embedded snippet below to see what’s on offer. Hint: not much at the moment.  Saturday is only a couple of days away, however. *wink*

  1. I hope that’s sarcasm but if its not then you sir must go down to a store buy Uncharted and UC2 (Plus a PS3 if you don’t have one). And enjoy.

  2. This was bound to happen so I’m not particularly surprised, though I am bound to get it as I loved the rest. I think it should be put to rest after this though, go out on a high and work on something new.

  3. Jumping a bit ahead of myself (just a bit), but Jungle, Snow then Sand…Where next?

    • Saying god bye to drake :( ?

      • Saying god bye to drake :( ?

or if they make 1 more game it can be under water.

    • Moon dust. Naturally.

  4. Well this came out of nowhere. Didn’t think I could be so excited about a game with this little background info. Uncharted 1 & 2 are my favourite games this generation, can’t wait for this one :)

  5. Am I the only one who’s a little worried about the desert theme and a little disapointed by it? The jungle and snow sections looked absolutly amazing in both of the first uncharteds, but how can you make boring yellow sand look good? Remember how bland the dessert sections of Farcry looked?

    I don’t like sand!

    • It’s unlikely the desert will be the only setting. There was ice in U2 but not *just* ice. I fully expect another globe-trotting excursion for Drake and the gang. Also, I’m very confident ND will perform magic with the sand.

  6. Can’t wait.

Also – people who are worried about the desert environments – I don’t think you should worry too much. This is Uncharted – it can go anywhere it likes.

I’m hoping for a struggle through a desert scene with a sand storm – before breaking out onto a temple with puzzles and boobtraps etc. Then you go deep below the temple and appear in an underground cavern full of rivers and waterfalls and cracks in the top where sunlight pours through.

After the story goes somewhere with that you break out into the middle of a typical Arabian city where you fight against some sort of army/rebellion and this involves scaling the buildings etc.

From there you can go wherever you like…

If any of that comes true I want royalties.

  7. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception?
After the amount of double-crossing in Among Thieves, what the hell is in this game to get Deception in the title?

  8. Uncharted is probably the best exclusive for sony at this moment in time. I feel another Uncharted plat on the way =)

  9. I drove through part of Rub’ al Khali last week! No joke! Very excited for this game, probably more so than any other game.

  10. Sweet! I can’t stop smiling!
    (That’s a good thing)
