EA Announces ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters’

EA has announced that ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters’ will be hitting stores this April, meaning “players will be able to step onto the hallowed grounds of Augusta National” for the first time.  As with all EA Sports games there have been some tweaks, changes, and additions including:

Masters Moments – Play through memorable, historic moments as players try to measure up against some of the sport’s greatest legends.

Tiger at the Masters – Relive each of Tiger’s four wins at the Masters by attempting to equal or beat his scores in each round of the Tournament.

The Caddie Experience – Behind every great golfer is a trusted and reliable caddie. Players will have a caddie by their side on every swing, providing strategic advice, from shot selection to reading greens, helping them become a more successful golfer.

The Closest Thing to Being There – For the first time ever, EA SPORTS utilized a new state-of-the art laser scanning technology at Augusta National Golf Club to laser scan every hole featured in the game. This will provide players with the most authentic digital representation of the Tournament and Par 3 courses. Every tree, every azalea and every undulation in every green was recreated down to the smallest detail.

Broadcast Presentation – Feel the emotion of every swing as called by the all-new commentary team of Jim Nantz and David Feherty, who headline a completely revamped TV broadcast presentation package.

Career Mode – The all-new career mode will closely mirror the journey of an amateur golfer’s rise through the ranks and chase the title of Masters Champion.

New Players – Over 20 professional golfers to choose from, including Zach Johnson (2007 Masters Champion) and Bubba Watson (2010 Ryder Cup – Team USA).

Championship Courses – Take on the best of the best on sixteen of the world’s most celebrated courses, including Augusta National Golf Club, Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Australia), Atlanta Athletic Club, TPC San Antonio, St Andrews Links and Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Ironically enough, despite the game being named after him the standard box-art has remained Tiger free (see below).  The collectors edition however will feature the man himself.

  1. After the whole Tiger fiasco, shouldn’t they have thought about changing the name? I mean, so many sponsers dropped him because of his bad press at the time. This is something my girlfriend was furious about that they were all still called Tiger Woods….*insert year*. I do not have a problem with the games if they relive his greatest moments but when it comes the time that they don’t, then you will have to question why he’s still on the title.

Probably lots of issues that bind him to the game like that but he’s just a contraversial name now. You don’t see David Beckham’s Fifa 11.

    • Rory Mcilroy?

      • I’m thinking Lee Westwood’s PGA Tour :)

Better yet, George Bush’s PGA Tour :p [tis all he seemed to do on a certain movie about him]

      • I don’t really care about EA’s golf franchise anyway haha.. I can see it being named EA sports: Golf Masters or maybe something more simple.. like Fifa

    • Not that David Beckham is anything like Tiger Woods. They were just awesome at their sport for some time.

  2. I think it also has MOVE support but not Kinect from what ive read, maybe still a rumor

    • Given they patched Move support into the previous version I’d be stunned if it didn’t support Move. Hopefully they’ve managed to improve the Move implementation from the patched version though – I may pick this up at some point if it uses Move well…

  3. That’s one horrid box-art ladies and gentlemen.

So is this the actual Tiger Woods game for this year? Or is it a spin-off in the same vein as Fifa World Cup?

    • Also, the box-art says “Masters” three times, I think we get the point!

  4. The collector’s edition is PS3-exclusive, isn’t it?

  5. I think the golfer in the background taking a swing is actually Tiger, so we’re not totally free of Tiger just yet.

    • Yep i thought the same but seeing as it’s called the Masters i’m assuming they wanted to advertise that more rather than someone who people don’t like that much any more.
