Konami Announces Move Compatible Dance Game

Konami has today announced it will release ‘DanceDanceRevolution New Moves’ across Europe in March 2011, promising “extended full-body movement via Sony’s new PlayStation Move motion controllers.”  The game features over 50 tracks, ranging from popular hits to classic dance anthems, so should have something to cater for most tastes.

DanceDanceRevolution New Moves also offers a new mode where you will be able to dance using both the DDR Dance Mat controller and Move together.

“Users move both their upper and lower body as they dance to match the indicators displayed on screen. As they use the Dance Mat controller to mimic the on-screen arrows, the player also holds the PlayStation®Move Motion controller, which is represented by a ball of light on screen and must be guided towards the relevant moving arrows.”

Other new game modes include ‘Dance Off’ Mode, where two to four players take turns running through the same dance, and ‘Club’ Mode, where you can play over and over again in a marathon session.

  1. The game with a title so big I ran out of space on the headline!

  2. I think this is one area where Kinect will have the upper hand. You don’t need a controller to dance.

    • Yep, which is why I play Dance Central regularly, but traded in SingStar Dance.

      • I got my better half Singstar + Dance for Christmas but haven’t yet had a chance to give it a go.

    • Yes and no…
Kinect does motion detection, to a level… but DanceDance has never really been about Dancing – it’s a rhythm game.
I’m not sure Kinect could do precision in the same way a dance mat can – although having seen the apps that people are making with PCs, maybe it could with a good enough developer.
SingStar+Dance is pretty much a step on from all of the Wii Just Dance titles.

Don’t think I’d be coordinated enough to pull off moves with my body and keep the CrAzY Japanese rhythm with my feet.

Anyways… I’m still impressed by the KungFu Live demo.
      (and a bit knackered)

  3. This sounds way to complicated, I never understood dancing games!

  4. I hate the idea of dancing so this isn’t for me

  5. I’m a perv, so I’ll hold out for Move A Bust.

    • post like this are the reason TSA needs a like button!

      • TSA used to have a similar system but everyone just ended up “disliking” everyone else’s replies.

      • There should not be a dislike button though, just a Like one :P

    • Really? What a shame! Well if you can’t use it responsibly…

  6. Enough with all the dance games already. This is going to be shit i can almost guarantee it. Can we just focus on making proper games that utilise the move properly Please? I’m getting peed off with the announcements of all the terrible sounding move games. Please make just 1 good one.

  7. Big fan of DDR, so i’m looking forward to this
