I think a good deal of us have heard of Nintendo’s ‘Virtual Boy’. Whilst it was way ahead of the curve, this personal console/TV system flopped drastically – probably not helped by the fact it gave users headaches. Fast forward to 2011 and Sony has unveiled an amazing new 3D display headset prototype.
Making you look like an even more futuristic Geordi LaForge, this amazing little display is worn like a visor, contains a screen for each eye, and has inbuilt headphones. Please Sony, bring this to market – I want to play Uncharted 3 on it!

I can imagine using this only to find the TV going blank and sound cutting out, then taking the headset off to discover all of my possessions have disappeared from the lounge only to then look out the window to see a couple of pikeys legging it down the road with my PS3 and dag. (Thats if I had a dog)!

Dependent on the price, this could be a much more accessible way into 3D for home users – if they do release this, I for one would be interested in trying it out.

Seems interesting as an alternative to a 3D TV.
Only (potential) advantage I see would be price tho.
I took the plunge and got a 46″ 3D Bravia and so far i thoroughly enjoy the TV, not just the 3d media but the image quality is far better than the 42″ LG that it replaced.
And obviously the visor would be limited to one person so watching 3D movies with friends and family would be a no go as well as multiplayer games. And that kills it for me.

I used to own one of the Jaguar VR prototypes & I reckon this new one will be a little bit lighter than old blue was!! I believe one of the other ones will be making its way to eBay shortly!!
