Rock Band Network Tracks Discontinued on Wii

As of January 18th, Rock Band Network, the downloadable content service designed by Harmonix in conjunction with Microsoft to allow musical artists to bring their own tracks to the Rock Band library, will no longer support the Wii.

PS3 fans will continue to receive a reduced version of the popular DLC offshoot. Wii fans, however, that’s your lot. No encore. The band are now getting drunk backstage with your girlfriend. Go home.

Announced on the Rock Band Forums, community member hmxhenry states:

Next Tuesday, 1/18/2010, will also be the last scheduled batch of Rock Band Network songs brought over to the Wii. With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process these additional tracks we’re no longer able to continue submitting RBN content to the Wii. Regular Wii DLC, and RBN releases for the 360 and PS3 will continue uninterrupted.

The final batch of Wii content that will grace the service is the following tracks:

  • The Main Drag – “How We’d Look On Paper”
  • Wounded Soul – “Rx”
  • Band of Horses – “The Great Salt Lake”
  • Firewind – “Head Up High”
  • Cetan Clawson and the Soul Side – “White Heat”
  • OK Go – “White Knuckles”

  1. You get some great tracks carried over to PS3 from RBN. Think I’ve got about 5 but I know of people who are more into the indie music scene that have a lot more. Shame we can’t have the full service and that the Wii is no longer getting any.

But that’s life, the PS3 gets a few good tracks and the Wii isn’t the place for Rock Band anyway :P

    • so a music game is not suitable for the WII? :P

  2. FIREWIND!!

  3. sucks to be you wiiiiii
