MindJack Blurring The Line Between Single/Multiplayer

It may look like your everyday third person shooter but MindJack, developed by feelplus Inc. (Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscover), is promising to bring some innovation to the much beloved genre as Brand Manager, Ned Browning explains:

MindJack takes everything you know about both single and multiplayer games and completely turns it on its head.

When playing through the singleplayer campaign, other players can beam themselves into your game, via the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, where they either join you as an ally or hijack the role of an enemy trooper. Though it sounds as if it could be a pain in the ass, it’s an interesting mechanic, and in some respect it can related to Splash Damage’s upcoming shooter, Brink and even last year’s Demon’s Souls.

Square Enix are launching MindJack on January 21st for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

  1. feelplus Inc? I had no idea. That’s given me anticipation for this game. Before I thought it was a few interesting ideas and a horrendous live-action trailer but now I’m actually interested.

With the influx of sheer awesomeness coming our way in the next few weeks however, this would probably only see light of day on my console in a few months, at a fraction of the price mind you. :D

    • This looks awful. I’ve seen some trailers and its amazing how flawed it looks.

Anyone who actually wants a good mind controlling game just get either Second Sight or Psi-Ops for PS2.

      Dont bother with Mind-F**K

      • Those were two good games, both out at similar times too though my preference was undoubtedly Second Sight by Free Radical, developed at a time when they could do no wrong.

      • then play a demo or get the game best way to judge it imo.

  2. Never heard of this game before, but interesting feature, will watch this one

  3. omg sixthaxsis.. why do you never put an end quote?! lol

  4. That’s soooo Demon’s Souls! -1 for originality.

  5. This brings back memories of the delightful guilty pleasure I felt every time someone invaded me in Demon’s Souls and I immediately unplugged the ethernet cord from my PS3.

Although, come to think of it, it wasn’t really all that guilty at all…

In any case, I hope that, unlike DS, this game does include an option to simply turn multiplayer off.

  6. Was this game marketed at all? Didn’t really hear much about it.

  7. Lost Oddyssey was a brilliant game it was a 4 disc game on 360 and I loved it every minute of it. Brilliant. As for MindJack will have to keep my eye open on this one, so I’ll wait for a review or even a demo.
