Telltale Games, developers of Sam & Max and the recent Back to the Future adaptation, are gearing up to unveil five new projects at an event on February 17th. One of these new games is described as being “based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it.”
The first property that comes to mind is The Walking Dead, a popular comic book series penned by Robert Kirkman, which was adapted into a six-episode TV series last year (which was excellent, by the way.) The Walking Dead has been in print since October 2003, and is hailed as the definitive zombie-themed character drama.
Telltale Games have yet to comment on rumours surrounding the new project.

As much as I love Sam and Max, I really hope this isn’t the Walking Dead. I would want a survival game action game, not a comic point and click.

For their Jurassic Park game they’re switching things up a fair bit and mixing in more action gameplay to the formula.
In other words, they know they need to change it up in order to fit in with certain genres.

I didn’t realise they were doing a Jurassic Park game! First we had Ghostbusters and Sonic. Now, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park! It’s like my childhood is being wrapped up with a pretty HD bow. All I need now is a Thundercats game and I’ll have fully and happily regressed.

Oh man a Thundercats game would be fucking sweet.

hey man where’s my captin scarlet and gogs?

would a point and click game work around walking dead? Simply, no. It’s to action orientated for it to work. As a survival horror? Yes, most defently yes

As long as it isn’t a dual stick shooter, I’ll keep an eye on it.

As the others have said, as a survival horror it really could be something else but Telltale Games, good developers that they are, just lend zero inspiration in that area.
Definitely worth keeping an eye on however because of such strong potential.

When I watched this I kept thinking how someone needs to do a really decent survival style zombie game, less trying to get from A-B or kill so many zombies, more struggling to survive, trying to get by.
Unfortunately Telltale Games don’t sound like the developer to pull that off.
Jim H [Teabags]
Agreed. If put in the right hands, The Walking Dead COULD be made into a really successful down-to-earth survival game.

Rockstar perhaps? their work on The Warriors was amazing to say the least, plus they’ve dabbled in the zombie area recently…

Not really the studio I want handling it if I’m honest. Rather a developer that’s more used to making big expansive worlds.

I just bought the compendium and have opened a bottle of Chilean merlot to sip whilst reading it.
Anyway. If it looks anything like Sam and max or in fact is anything like Sam and max then this will be a big steamin pile of rotting brains.

I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead, prefer the comics to the series though. But as much as I respect Telltale and like their work, I don’t think they’re the right studio for this game, it should be a third person zombie-killing-fest, not a point and click adventure. It should be a’la Undead Nightmare or something.
