Minecraft Documentary On The Way

2 Player Productions, the people behind the first season of Penny Arcade: The Series, gaming doc Reformat the Planet, and behind-the-scenes films for Infamous and Uncharted, have announced that they will be releasing a documentary about the development of PC indie hit Minecraft.

The film will follow the Mojang team in the first week of the studio’s formation, and will be around twenty minutes long, although expect more to follow if there’s a positive reaction. “Depending on the reception when we release, we may return to Mojang in Stockholm to continue expanding on it,” write 2PP on their blog. “The story of Mojang Studios has only just begun, and there are still aspects of the studio that could be explored.”

The as-yet-untitled documentary will be released online sometime in February, and the first shots are below. If you haven’t seen any of 2 Player Productions’ previous work, head over to their site and check it out.

  1. minecraft is a true indie developer success story. over a million units sold and the game hasn’t even technically been released yet. not to mention the fact that it looks like a 8 bit FPS.

I’ve been playing it since create mode was the main mode. it’s come a long way and I still put in a few minutes with it almost every day.

    • minecraft seems like a pretty cool game but i just dont get it…

and the graphics upset me… i guess i’m too young at 24 to appreciate them? maybe i’m just weird…

  2. There’s a fat bloke with a beard.. I’m guessing he’s a developer. Just a hunch.

    • the fat bloke with the beard is a multi-millionaire now. he made most of that money from his bedroom.
