Black Ops Glitch Confirms No Xbox Live Chat For PS3

As eagle-eyed snipers will already know, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1.06 patch went live on the PS3 this week. Mostly introducing some game balancing tweaks and stability enhancements, the update also seems to have turned your PlayStation 3 into an Xbox 360.

Case in point. Check the below image where one PS3 user was informed, not surprisingly, that they do not have access to “Xbox Live party chat.” They also don’t have the ability to play “teh Haloz”, but we reckon they already knew that.

Apparently the glitch has already been nuked at the server end, so don’t expect to ever see this again. That said, this is the internet, where nothing embarrassing is ever forgotten.

Update: 1.06 is now available for Xbox 360. Rumours that it adds Trophies and Home are unfounded at this time.

  1. Hehe oops!

  2. What a cock up.

  3. Well to be fair it is true

    • yeah. nothing wrong with a friendly reminder

  4. It goes to show how much of a cock up black ops has been for PS3 users. I bought the game the day it was released and got rid of it less than a week later.

  5. love TSA but your starting to let the side down posting yestardays news.

i think il take my game back for a refund if i cant get xbox chat on ps3 its a disgrace!

    • This is barely news. You’re lucky it even made the cut! :-)

    • We’re sorry. As TSA’s writers all contribute on a part-time basis it’s often difficult to cover every news item on the day it hits. There are many sites out there that have full-time writers who do nothing all day but cover the industry. I’m assuming you already learned of this particular news item from one of these sites. Good for you.

I can assure you there are LOTS of news we never get to cover at all.

Finally, for the record, some of the aforementioned professional sites have often reported news items much later than we have. As you can see, even having full-time writers on the case, it’s not always possible to report everything the second it happens.

Taking the above into account, I find your comment of “letting the side down” to be quite harsh if I’m being honest.

      • im sorry, of course i agree and understand, TSA being my main source of news and information its oftern easily forgotten that the TSA staff are part time, and i didnt mean to cause offensive just banter.

Look how “banter” turned out in the sporting world this week.

      • No problem. I wasn’t offended. I don’t expect people to only read TSA. As long as people remember that, in my opinion, we’re doing a stellar job in terms of covering the news in a very competitive – and often professional – market.

  6. Damn…..

  7. Well since the update I’ve found it running better than before. I’m enjoying it more than MW2. I just hope I don’t need Microsoft Points to get the map pack off PSN

    • Same here, I have seen no stability improvements at all.

  8. they should rename the game ‘call of duty – black oops’

  9. Oh dear.

  10. Shows the Blacks Ops is a cra**y port of the Xbox version.
