Parasite Eve II Coming Soon To US PSN

Square Enix has announced that Parasite Eve II will hit the PlayStation Network in North America sometime soon. A release date has not been confirmed yet, but it seems likely that we’ll see the game on the PSN before the release of The 3rd Birthday on March 29th.

While the first Parasite Eve was known for its horror influence, the sequel takes it a step further. The combat system is different, many of the RPG elements were dropped, and the gameplay closely resembles a Survivor Horror game like Resident Evil than anything else. The composer was also changed for the sequel, with Naoshi Mizuta scoring the soundtrack instead of Yoko Shimomura.

Fans will be pleased to know that Parasite Eve will be available today in North America for $9.99. It’s a great game so be sure to check it out if you haven’t yet.

Update: Parasite Eve is now available and it’s only $5.99. Seems like SE made a mistake in its press release.

  1. i would totally buy parasite eve if i was ever given the opportunity.

i could get a us store card and download it, but that would make playing it on the psp a pain in the arse as i have loads of content on my main account and you can only have one account on a psp at a time.

    • Yeah >_<. I really wish there was an official way to have multiple regions on a PSP at one time. I have games from all three and it's a pain to constantly reactivate. At least there's a proper chance for a re-release of Parasite Eve II in Europe. That game was actually released there unlike the first one. O_o.

      • yeah hopefully for those who missed the parasite eve 2, i got lucky and managed to find a copy cheap, can’t use it on psp but it works on ps3, at least i think it does.

i prefer the first game though.

      • Yeah, I also prefer the first game.

  2. Would be nice if it came to the EU soon.

    • ;( if there’s any news on it, we’ll let you know!

    • With out a PAL version to remaster, it’s always going to be an uphill struggle to get the PE games out on the EU Store.

Shame, though, as they really are wonderful. Well, the first one more than its sequel.

      • There was a PAL version for PE2 at least. It’s no Parasite Eve though…

      • but i would assume the us version would work, people will be buying it to use on their eu ps3 so if it doesn’t work we’ll soon find out.
they’ve got japanese import games on the us store, there’s talk of the same thing here, there is no technical reason can i see why they couldn’t just use the us disc.

if square don’t want to release it how about scee get the publishing rights?
scea seem to be the publisher for every ps1 title on their store.

      • Would a downloadable NTSC PSone Classic work on a PAL PS3? I don’t think so but I can’t confirm it personally. I’d imagine that there would be compatibility issues since one is 480i and the other is 576i, even if you’re running on an HDTV. JPN and US share the same resolution so both systems would be able to play it just fine.

        *shrug*

      • @ Delriach … Yeah, NTSC PS1 games work on PAL PS3’s no problem, I bought Castlevania:SotN and Blood Omen:Legacy of Kain (1 of my favourite PS1 games) ages ago and both run fine.

  3. Never played any PE game.
Heard/read a lot about them though, would be nice to try them!

  4. it isn’t too hard to get a US PSN card online. Most sites that sell them just email you the code, login to a US account and spend away. Not quite as easy on PSP as you have to change the user account, but still I finally got to play Xenogears. It was… disappointing…

  5. In a time when I was much younger and didn’t understand the negative effect of piracy, I remember player a copied version of Parasite Eve 1 on my PSone. It was in black and white and crashed after a certain point, possibly due to a clash in the programming and hardware but what I did play of it I enjoyed and hope it they manage to bring it to the EU PSN. Otherwise I´m going to have to stealth buy it from the US store which would be a pain on my PSP.

  6. I’ve found my Parasite Eve 2 at my parents house recently but just been too busy to play it. It’s too bad you can’t transfer your old PS1 games onto your PS3 and then onto your PSP. That would be awesome.

  7. unfortunately I did the dumbass thing today, bought my first network card just to buy Parasite Eve from my US account……..well you guessed it – it wouldnt accept it, so now i got Network card I’ll never use, even though im sure i knew you cant buy american or Japanese games with a uk card – grrrrr
