WonderCon 2011 is just around the corner (beginning April 1st) and this year, publishing behemoth Acitvision will be announcing a new video game tied to the Spiderman franchise. The title will be developed by Beenox, the folks behind last year’s Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions which was a unique entry to the series but failed to pick up the pieces after a chain of admittedly poor Spiderman games. Here is the official listing:
4:30-5:30 Activision Spider-Man— Marvel, Activision, and acclaimed developer Beenox are headed to WonderCon with all-new Spider-Man videogame content! First, take a tour with Beenox down memory lane of the award-winning Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and discuss their post-launch reactions and what key learnings from the fans they are applying to future games. Next, be the first to check out exclusive details, screenshots and videos of the next Spider-Man game, with game development talent from Beenox, acclaimed Marvel writer Peter David(co-creator of Spider-Man 2099), voiceover talent Josh Keaton (voice of Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Manand Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions) and Marvel’s VP of games production, TQ Jefferson. Room 103
With the next Spiderman film a long way off, a video game tie-in is very unlikely at this stage. We would put our money on Beenox unveiling a project very similar to Shattered Dimensions, though perhaps reverting to an open-world gameplay structure first seen in Spiderman 2.

I want a Spiderman game that’s on par with Batman AA, and while we are on the subject, I want a decent Superman game too! =)
jonny_bolton
Or on par with Spiderman 2 at least. God that game was cool.
gazo69
Never played it!

Yep, it was truly amazing. Jumping off the top of the Empire State and then seeing how close to the ground you could get before you hit the old web sling. Great times.
rainydays458
Or seeing how long you keep spinning a bad guy above your head with the web lasso…
Good times.
Smallville2106
A good Superman game would be brilliant!!
mynameisblair

watch this and you’ll never want to. :)

A silver surfer game would be ace, but only if they actually followed the origins of him, and nit some watered down approximation like the shit that was in the fantastic four film
Oooh a fantastic four game (or three to be technical)
Errr and would it be inappropriate to suggest another wolverine game? I thought the movie tie in one ‘wasnt bad’
(note I didn’t say good)

I enjoyed Shattered Dimensions but I think open world is where a Spider-Man game belongs.
MadBoJangles
Still haven’t tried Shattered Dimensions.
Looked good too :)
Charmed_Fanatic
Another one so soon? wow how about another franchise?
jayjay119
I know, the wealth of comic book heros and villains out there and we keep hearinng from the same ones! How about a Heavy Rain/L.A Noir/Infamous type game featuring Superman, now that sounds ACE.
Skyfire
take the grapple idea of just cause 2 and mix it up with the world of spiderman and you could have an awesome game.
jonny_bolton
Yeah it was called Spiderman 2.
carson321
Does this count as an announcement of an announcement?!
Smallville2106
lol Announcements of announcements make me chuckle.
tonycawley
No. they’ve just announced the announcement of an announcement.
hazelam
did you guys miss the kojima countdown to the countdown to the announcement of the announcement, about the announcement of his latest game? ^_^
Sympozium
If its not like the legendary Spider-Man of the 5th-early 6th console age then go away… I miss Spidey..
rainydays458
A HD remake of Spiderman 2 would be good, or a really good open world adventure
Cathaloh
Josh Keaton back? Is this official? I hope so because he is awesome at voicing the Webhead.
Tuffcub
I bet it’s the movie tie in.
hazelam
i would think so, either that or they’re going to turn spider-man into yet another annual franchise.
honestly, i can see activision going for option number 2.
