  1. that was pretty good. great vid

  2. If this is set 3,500 years before the films, why do all the ship designs, troop uniforms and, pretty much everything look like the teensy-tiniest of changes compared to the films?

Did absolutely no technological development occur in that period of time?

As for the cinematic itself, it looked pretty good all around. Very nice sequence.

    • Good point. 3,500 years ago it was 1489 BC – quite different, technologically and otherwise, from now.

    • The whole star wars universe is messed up, the Technology in 1, 2, and 3 trilogy is far more advanced than the later 4-6 one, it’s stupid.

    • I’d always thought by the time you’ve reached lightsabers and spaceships, there isn’t much left to invent.

    • Surely after a certain technological point the rate of advancement slows to a crawl. As in, you have space-ships and faster than light travel. Where do you go from there? SPACER ships?

      • No matter how advanced technology is, there’s always room for a go-faster stripe.

    • The old Old Republic games managed to look way more retro than this. Maybe theres some crazy event between 3500 years ago and Episode 1 when a galactic ice-age ruined all the lightsabers and knackered all the hyper drive motivators and everyone had to start all over again, sticks and things. The Sith probably did a mjaor rebranding too, and why not.

  3. The first line put me off with the mention of just a few words, PC and MMO :(

    • Neither of which are actually words ;-) x x x

      • abbreviated words are still words :) and whats with the kisses dude. I aint that way inclined fella, Tuffcub is always on smutwatch so id watch your back now :p

      • Judging by his avatar, i would say that TC has already paid him a visit! :D

    • Sorry, what’s wrong with MMOs?

  4. This looks pretty good, shame the game doesn’t. (IMO)

    • Yeah looks poor, isn’t that like most MMOs?

    • I agree. Great intro but the game itself doesn’t interest me from what I’ve seen so far.

  5. Should definitely be “Star Wars, the slightly Old Republic”. Far too close to Episode One tech to explain 3500 years of progress. Still, v nice trailer. If they bring it over to PS3 with move support I would give it a try. I wont hold my breath….

  6. Jedi Master looks to be a Dathomirian; the same race as Maul just without the facial tattoos. Nice touch.

    • Darth Maul and this guy are Zabraks.

      *nerd hat*

    • I thought Maul was a Dathomirian, which is a hybrid between human and a zabrak.

      http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_maul

“Darth Maul was a Dathomiri Zabrak Sith Lord during the waning days of the Galactic Republic …”

      • I think the Jedi dude looks a lot like Bao-Dur from KOTOR 2. An Iridonian Zabrak as opposed to a Dathomiri.

      • Well, there is some debate as to whether or not Maul was an Iridonian Zabrak as opposed to a Dathomiri Zabrak.

Regardless, I think you’re right. Move along. Nothing to see here.

  7. This looked great. Showed nothing about the game though. They can make the greatest CGI videos to date, but at the end of the day, its still just a small cinema viewing. Not actual game footage.

I don’t like the idea of it being set all those years before the actual movies, though. I would feel more comfortable if I was playing with familiar characters from the movies. Not these generic good team vs bad team types of characters. Why don’t we have an MMO made every few years or so, which is based on each movie, starting with Episode I? That would be cool. Or even an MMO which is based BETWEEN the movies, but with the same characters? Showing what action happened between them would be good.

  8. “I sense.. a great darkness” *looks out of window* “HOLY CRAP WE’RE IN SPACE!”

Hehe looks great in HD but yet another Star Wars trailer which I’m sure will be nothing like the game – I’d like it if they spent their time making films based on these cinematics rather than cutscenes for games

    • Damn you, I hate writing LOL, but LOL.

  9. If everything goes well, this Summer I should have a brand new desktop to run this on :)

    • And if everything goes well for me in the winter, I should have your brand new PC :P

    • And if everything goes well for me, this spring (note: seasons are not capitalised, people) I’ll be sending you to Sing Sing while dressed in a power tie and sporting a $300 haircut.

  10. Very good trailer, my interest is also picqued on the game as well.

    • Same, what an epic trailer. Now I just need a computer that will play it and a stable internet connection.
