2K Chief Christoph Hartmann believes that Kinect and Move are being used by Microsoft and Sony to experiment in the market, rather than as an effort to delay releasing another console.
Speaking to MCV, he thinks both corporations are “testing the water” in the hope of launching their future consoles with similar accessories as standard.
“I don’t think they are avoiding doing another machine but testing the water. Rather than coming out and saying ‘this is our console now,’ I think they are playing around and seeing what they can do. But now everyone is looking for innovation and at online components, so they are experimenting.”
Rather than an immediate reaction to the success of the Wii motion control, Hartmann feels Microsoft and Sony are playing the long game. Furthermore, he feels the same way with how Microsoft launched the first Xbox.
“When Microsoft made the Xbox, I assume there were always plans for Xbox 360. It was just the first Xbox was the machine to get it there. Microsoft was new to the party, so they used Xbox 1 to test the water. It’s the same principle.”
Of course unlike the first Xbox, Sony’s first PlayStation was an instant success. Were Sony really just testing the water too?

love the way these game sites take each others stories and shuffle the words lol

The source (MCV) is clearly credited on most articles

MCV for this article i mean :(

I think on the whole TSA do a good job at sourcing their information either from primary sources or secondary (as above). It’s only very occasionally that they slip up, like a couple of days ago with the whole Anonymous arrests in Italy. Some of the info in that seemed mixed up or plucked out of thin air.

I’m sorry, but how is that comment constructive in any way? How do you expect sites to actually obtain news to put on their site if they don’t use others as as sources?
If that was the case, every site would only have one story a day, if even. Every site has to use others as sources. You very clearly don;t have a clue about the infrastructure of gaming websites.
Take your crap elsewhere, it’s not welcome here.
Jim H [Teabags]
Borrowing from/crediting other sources is common practice anywhere you go, buddy. If sites were only allowed to report first-hand news, there would only be a few of them in existence ;)

Bout to say, any news is only 1 news report, and every site has to gather there info from somewhere! Tsa is good as it 90% of the time only posts decent news not alias of crao just to make it look busy, hence the slow news week we’ve had, we actually has come up trumps thanks to tsa!

Ment a load of crap* damn iPad and me not reading what I’m typing lol

I think Tsa does a great job in crediting other articles. And if all storys were exclusive then we’d be lucky if we got one new story a week. But I agree with obi in that there is something slightly amusing about it.
And saying “take your crap elsewhere” is a bit over the top and just makes Tsa look like ‘the crap elsewhere’
simplebob
If only theyd give us more decent games for Move and Kinnect and then they’d get more of an impression of how well they can do.
Ed the Penguin
Has this ‘water’ they were testing with run dry, as there’s a real drought of Move games.

I wish Sony would leave motion controls alone, whats wrong with using a gamepad?
whoelse
Because you can’t win over all non-gamers if they still have to learn a gamepad, and all the buttons.
Deathbrin
The funny bit? If they do that they _become_ gamers.
DRCD1
What’s the problem with buttons?
If buttons were so bad, phones (which are used by everyone) wouldn’t use them anymore.

Oh.

I think with playstation move wehavent actually seen what it can achieve! the tech demos before it was released looked brilliant, since then it’s been abit naff I’ll admit but who knows what’s round the corner!
TSBonyman
A wter-proof Move/ Kinect? but what about the refractive index?
Deathbrin
No Sony weren’t testing the water as it was Nintendo’s project and it was going to be hugely successful anyway. ;)
Deathbrin
With the first PlayStation, that is.
fattyuk
when was move on development? 2002? about 5 years before the wii was even announced and the tech is different! The wii iz just IR while move is genuine motion sensing via the pseye
