PS3 Exclusive Sideway Shown Off At Comic-Con

Sideway may have slipped by many of us but that’s not because it isn’t full of potential. The developers have been showing it off at San Diego’s Comic-Con and talking a little bit about it to IGN.

Basically, it’s a platformer. Heavily inspired by Mario, which is no bad thing for a platform game to aspire towards, but with a twist and a whole big dollop of Hip Hop flava (am I doing it right?)

It’s a 2D platformer set on the 3D streets of New York City. The primary gameplay mechanic revolves around graffiti and the protagonist is kind of painted on the wall. He looks like a LittleBigPlanet sticker that slips, instead of sticks, around a 3D environment. Wow, this is almost impossible to adequately describe so the best way to get an idea of what it’s like is probably to watch the trailer below.

Sideway is due out on the PSN, priced at $10, later this year.

  10. Reminiscent of Crush with the 2D/3D angle(!) but that’s not intended to be obtuse…
