Sony has announced that they have acquired Sucker Punch, the developers behind the inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper games.
SCE Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, said that “Sucker Punch Productions is one of the most highly acclaimed development studios in the industry and we have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the company for over 12 years. We are delighted to officially welcome them to the SCE family.”
“The addition of Sucker Punch to SCE WWS reiterates our dedication to developing world class gaming experiences that can only be found on the PlayStation platform,” he added. “With one of the strongest exclusive software lineups in the PS3′s history, combined with the diverse, innovate content in the works for PlayStation Vita, consumers have a lot to be excited about this year.”
“We’re really committed to this ‘one product’ stuff,” said Sucker Punch’s Brian Fleming hinting at inFAMOUS 3. “I think that’s part of why Sony appreciates us. Our culture is certainly unique, and they want us to be an independent studio and have our own voice and our own management style.”
Sucker Punch is now Sony’s 16th studio.

I’m another one who sort of assumed Sony already owned them, have they ever released a game on a platform that didn’t start with Playstation?
I would think this is a smart move anyway, with Insomniac’s new multi-platform game being a good example as to why.

Rocket: Robot on Wheels was released on the N64.

Don’t you mean subjective? Like when you call their (Sucker Punch) games pretty average?
david24
i just presumed that they were already owned by Sony. why didn’t they make there games multiplatform?
TheChaosGamer
More exclusives I guess.

Nice work Sony and Sucker Punch. Great news as a Playstation gamer
gaffers101
Cool, should lead to some great exclusives.
tyrant161
they should have bought insomniac games before they went multi-format
Rad4Life
Agreed. But at least Insomniac have stated that titles such as Resistance and Ratchet will stay exclusive to Sony. A game like Ratchet wouldn’t sell on the 360 anyway. I love Lombaxes.

Another brilliant move by Sony. This is why M$ is getting left in the dust when it comes to exclusives. Sony must keep landing blows like this. I would hate to see Infamous or Sly on another console.
