The Wii U won’t be getting a release date or a price until at least next year, says Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata.
The news shouldn’t really come as any surprise: E3’s message was confusing and nobody really knows what’s going on with the new console – any attention this year would distract from an already faltering Nintendo 3DS which is just about to get a large price cut.
Iwata’s message came as part of an investor meeting. “Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles,” he said, “we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals.”
Jolly good.

I know i shouldn’t be saying this as there is not enough information atm but i don’t care for the Wii-U, it’s motion gaming and i’m not a fan of motion gaming plus i haven’t seen any games that i would like to get a wii-u for. Ninty, please change my opinion on this.;) I think Ninty are going to struggle with the wii-u unless they pull out some massive guns at the next game’s show or threaten people to buy it if they want to live. Either way works.:D

Move wasn’t given a release and price until a few months before release. Kinect wasn’t much longer either. Just because they aren’t announcing stuff now it doesn’t mean it’s gonna fail. I don’t want one myself and can’t see it being as successful as the Wii but thats not because they aren’t announcing things.

if Nintendo make a new ip it would be a miracle but what the Wii U really needs is greater 3rd party support and most defiantly more information. Everyone is so… unclear, the E3 reveal was to early IMO.

The Wii was the only Nintendo console to beat the PS3 and 360 in sales.
Wii sales have decreased. Kids don’t want the Wii, they want COD which for them is only possible on PS3/360.
The Wii brought something new and everyone was like WOW but soon after realised that it was for casual gaming only and had bad graphics compared to the hardcore consoles.
The fact its called Wii U and competing with PS3/360, it’s already out dated. I don’t plan on seeing Uncharted graphics out of the Wii U nor do I see BF3, MW3, Batman, Elder Scrolls coming to it.

Am I the only one who still believes that there is a possibility that they could still do something amazing with the console? I do question some of their choices (name, inability to play remotely, comprehensive online offering – for now anyway), but still think that they can do something special.
Many people don’t know what it’s capable of and so can’t imagine what games will come.
There are many possibilities that I’m sure people haven’t considered which would actually appeal, so for now I’d say wait and see rather than condemning it.
For many they still can’t get their head around the Nintendo stigma that came with the N64 and that’s a shame.
I for one still believe that it has potential to be great.
