What Is Citizen Skywatch?

A mysterious website (and Twitter account and YouTube channel) by the name of ‘Citizen Skywatch’ has appeared, on servers owned by Take-Two – but what is it?

Given the retro-futuristic styling, NeoGAF members are suggesting a link to either XCOM or BioShock Infinite, both of which could be starting to churn up the marketing machine ahead of this week’s Gamescom show and their 2012 releases.

But just to muddle things even more, one of the nameservers in the site’s whois listing is noted as “NS6.ROCKSTARGAMES.COM” Sure, it could just be that someone tied the wrong domain to the new site on Take Two’s end, but when launching a teaser site with only an image they must have expected people to dig into the listing.

So what could it mean if Rockstar Games are indeed involved with the mysterious Citizen Skywatch? Maybe it’s the beginning of an ARG promo leading up to an proper reveal of Agent? Maybe San Andreas’ The Truth is returning in the ever-speculated GTAV, ripe for a Gamescom reveal?

Maybe it could even be something completely new – the website only appeared a few days ago, so whatever it is to do with will likely turn up during this week’s show. What do you think?

  1. i’m guessing new IP but one of those retro versions of the future. the logo looks like it belongs to one

  2. It’s screaming Bioshock, just like the website they had for Bioshock 2.
But why would it be linked to Rockstar?
I’m hoping for Agent. At this stage, any news is good news.

    • Bioshock was my first thought, but the Rockstar link has put a question mark against it. I’m guessing it is a known game though, not a new IP.

    • I’m with you guys – Infinite seemed almost definite (due to the Skywatch bit), but the Rockstar involvement dazes & confuses me to the point where i now have no idea.

      Clever marketing, or deliberate mislead?

    • I don’t think the futuristic font fits with the Bioshock universe which is steampunky and set in the 1940-50’s.

  3. What, no leaks so far, disappointing

  4. I don’t know…It lacks the the grimy steam-punk style that bioshock has and I don’t know really know enough about XCOM. I hope it’s something to do with Agent though, since well..so far there’s been pretty much nothing but a name and a logo

  5. Colour me intrigued. It’d be nice to see some Agent gameplay after all these years.

  6. With regards to san andreas, my fav gta… was a perfect concept in its era, the whole compton boyz in the hood thing, needs to be left in the eighties. Yes bring back the varied landscapes & vast open areas, but no more icecube thanks.
