Skyrim Gameplay Demonstration

This is pretty much the same gameplay demo of the upcoming Skyrim that we saw behind closed doors at E3 this year.  It’s well worth sitting through, so here’s the YouTube goodness.

Enjoy.

  1. My most anticipated game this year, also a contender for goty.

  2. I now 10000% want this game. Everything is improved, the UI is clean, you can see the scenery whilst in the menu. Plus,i love that we can look at our items. No longer pausing in dialog, can walk about whilst listening to the dialog is a win for me. I wanted to pace up and down in Oblivion at some of the main quests. The third person view is excellent now, the PC no longer runs like they have a rocket up their butt.

I like the idea of slow mo kills in TES but i hope they will just be cinematic and not like VATS in Fallout as TES doesn’t need that and it would be hard to explain it away.

Archers will have to make every shot count as Arrows are rare. I could go on and on about this. I reckon i will spend the first ten hours exploring only to get killed by a dragon. Now i really must get a job by then for gaming and personal reasons. I will have Skyrim even if i have to pass UC3 to get it.

    • My first order of play, is to find a dragon, just to see it in motion.

      • Mine will be to loot the nearest dungeon and looking at the scenery. I’ll probably run away from the first dragon i see as i doubt a level 1 would be able to defeat one.

      • Actually it’s too see if i can create Ghandalf. I’ve seen his hat & staff in trailers, beards are confirmed, chances are looking good so far.

      • too, to rather.

  3. I can’t belive some of the first few commenters haven’t even played Oblivion and never heard of this…amazing. Oblivion is easy one of the best games on consoles ever.

Or as one spanierd put it at the end of a Skyrim video: Adios vida social.

I’m ready to throw a couple of hundred hours at Skyrim, fuck relations.:)

    • ive never played oblivion. Doesnt interest me in the slightest

      • That figures. If it would interest you, you would be in here, commenting :)
But seriously. If Oblivion doesn’y interest you, Skyrim will neither, my guess.

    • I bought Oblivion on release due to the massive reviews. Gave it a good shot. Was not for me. Found the game to be way overrated.

  4. My most anticipted game of the year by far. I Can’t wait for november.

  5. You just got to love the loot-menu.

  6. this just confirms skyrim’s place at the very top of my must buy list.

but why, oh why, do these kind of games always have to have GIANT BLOODY SPIDERS?

talk about overused cliches, giant bloody spider in a fantasy has to be one of the worst.

and there’s no way a creature built the way a spider is could ever get that big.
it wouldn’t even be able to support it’s own weight.

    • Thank all that is holy.

    • Yeah i second that. God i hate spiders, just ughh!

  7. Cannot wait to get lost in this game. Looks brill.

  8. It’s a must buy for me, but again I’m left feeling that it seems a bit “dumbed down” to console level and I’m concerned I might have the same minor annoyances as I did with Witcher2 and for the same reasons :(
Also, I hope it’s just the compression on those videos, because they don’t look that great in full screen at “720”…
    Did I mention it’s still a must buy? :) :)

    • I know exactly what you mean, but hopefully, just like the witcher 2, it doesn’t detract from the whole experience too much to make it a “could have been” game. Just finished the witcher 2, loved every second of it, but it felt so different from the 1st!

      • I’m all for a clean interface, I guess I’m just old school and like a RPG to have in depth options underneath ;)
I’m just not sure about those huge Fisher Price icons/pictures either…:) :)

  9. I love the new menu/interface; I wasn’t a fan of that ostentatious menus of oblivion, especially where the solution to the puzzle was on the 3d claw itself. I feel like it adds a whole new level of depth :)
Oh and the final video was particularly impressive, I swear I heard that the dragon encounters aren’t scripted- for the most part- anyone know if this is true?

    • Unscripted dragons confirmed.
For live demo purposes, they were deliberately put in certain places.

      • Ah thanks, I’m looking forward to some unscripted dragon combat.
Yeah and I guess there will be plenty of deliberate dragon fights in the full release too.

  10. This isn’t really my cup of tea, i tried Oblivion and thought it looked quite good but preferred the gunplay of Fallout 3 to the melee combat of Oblivion. Skyrim looks like it brings quite a decent upgrade to the visuals and the thought of immersing myself in it’s world is very tempting but i have the feeling i will tire of it quickly just as i did with Oblivion. Might pick it up further down the line.
