Sonic Generations Release Date Confirmed

SEGA has announced Sonic Generations is coming in November.

The UK release date is November 4th, while the US gets it three days earlier on the 1st of November. These release dates are for PS3 and Xbox 360 with a 3DS date yet to be announced.

Sonic Generations sees Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic team up to fix time itself and save their friends. The levels will switch between classic 2D platforming set in 3D environments and the recent style of the camera following Sonic.

  1. Dunno man – http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/06/23/how-sonic-makes-me-sick/ – I’m excited but can’t help wondering why it’s not 60fps.

    • I’m buying regardless. Sonic was my first ever game. I feel obligated to buy Generations to celebrate the character that got me into gaming.

    • I think the engine is pretty amazing as it is with the detail of the environments and game speed they have to work with.

      • I thought it had too detailed backgrounds, as I found it was hard to focus on what was actually going on. But apart from that atleast the old-school Sonic stuff seems cool. 60 fps would be preferable though.

  2. Why no PC flag? Is it not coming?

    • I can’t find any info confirming a PC release date. Not to say it isn’t in the works but no news about dates. I will let you guys know once I get any info for a PC release date.

  3. I don’t know why sega don’t just give up on sonic. The game was great 20 years ago (estimate) but it didn’t exactly have much competition back then. Even if they managed to make a perfect rendition, I still don’t think it’d be very good. Sonic 4 recently was about as close as they’ll get and that was only ok for one playthrough. The whole industry has moved on so much in all this time, can’t they just let sleeping hedgehogs lie?

    • Pfft, non-believer

    • Don’t you mean, I don’t know why Sega don’t just give up?
Was discussing with some guys and agreed that not much made by them is worth a look these days. Once the decent studios find other publishers Sega will have nothing good left to their name. It’s a shame really.

    • The demo of Generations really helped build faith once more. In my opinion it represented what Sonic 4 should have been.

    • That profile picture of yours is very realistic, good sir.

  4. I think I might get Uncharted 3 instead.

Nice alliteration in the sub heading btw ;) What? I like a good bit of alliteration.

  5. Oh GOD. . . i wish someone would put a loaded gun against Sonic’s head and pull the trigger, i will do it for FREE LoL

  6. It’s another game where I just can’t see the full retail price in the product. I’m definitely interested in the game, I mean, It’s Sonic, but I won’t be paying any more than 20 or 30 dollars for it.

    • Hehe, dollars :P Listen to you and your fake money :D Good to see you’re settling in nicely :)

      • Yeah, I keep going between currencies and it’s especially worrying seeing new releases with the numbers 59.99 at the top.

  7. I want it, and I’m going to buy it, but not straight away.
    Madness, launching in that window.
What’s it’s chances against Uncharted, Skyrim, COD and Battlefield?
I know family oriented gamers may prefer Sonic to COD, but this could have sold so much better over the summer, or in late spring, compared to November, even when you factor in the Christmas rush.

  8. 1th November? They are killing themself.

  9. I have to agree about the release date. If it had been released in the Summer then it would have shot to the top or around there. Around that release window and it may have a tough time reaching the top ten.
