Windy City Showdown Live From Galloping Ghost Arcade

Every Thursday, gamers from around the Chicagoland area meet up at the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield Illinois to play some fighting games. If you ever wondered what I do when I’m not writing about games, this is it. I play fighting games nonstop until my eyes bleed to practice for these weekly gatherings.

Galloping Ghost Arcade is sadly one of the few arcades still around. I just started going there a few months ago and it’s absolutely amazing. There are literally hundreds of arcade machines for pretty much every game imaginable. They even have custom made cabinets for Mortal Kombat, MvC3, and BlazBlue.

There are tournaments held at GGA each month for Super Street Fighter IV: AE, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Mortal Kombat featuring some of the area’s best players. Today, there’s a team tournament in all three games. The event for Mortal Kombat is being live streamed by Medina4Life and features live commentary for yours truly.

You can check out the stream below to see all the action as it unfolds. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee that the language used outside of my own will be appropriate for all ages. It shouldn’t be too bad though.

Update: If you missed the live stream you can watch the full archive below.

  1. Fascinating scene, it seems to be really thriving again.
This is loooong but I’m going to leave it on in the background and check in between other things :)

  2. Some great fights. The fight between del and medina was pretty cool around the 23-27 min mark on video 1.

    • del starts kicking ass around the 31-34 min mark on vid 1

  3. This sounds great, flicked through the video a bit, but it was a little too long.. Would love something similar where I live or maybe at uni in a month or so..
