Bethesda has just released figures relating to Skyrim’s launch, including a figure of 7 Million Units shipped. Bethesda has also released some other impressive figures.
“More than 50% of launch units were sold in the first 48 hours and Bethesda Softworks has been receiving large reorders from major retailers in the North America, and across Europe and Australia.  Online activity has been notable, with Steam reporting that in the first 24 hours of its release, Skyrim set a record with over 280,000 concurrent players, far outdistancing all other titles… launch units are expected to generate more than $450 million in global retail sales.”
Skyrim has also received over 50 perfect review scores. Â Robert Altman, CEO of Zenimax Media, parent of Bethesda, has said:
“Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”
Todd Howard, Skyrim’s Game Director, called Skyrim “our most ambitious project ever.”

Well deserved i think. Although the likes of Oblivion aren’t my usual gaming fare, i’ve enjoyed the 12 hours or so i’ve spent with Skyrim so far.

$450 hey? That’s Mammoth sales ;-)

It deserves it, my Goty easily.

30 hours in hardly touched the surface of the game so much to do love it.

That could buy a lot of Nords a lot of beers. ;)
I am glad that they are making giant profits as Skyrim imo is RPG/Game of the year. I still can’t believe that Skyrim was reward a 10/10 by Eurogamer. :O

That’s great sales, fully deserved for such a brilliant game. Well done Bethesda.

Top game, fully deserved. Though the £2.99 I paid when trading in my £25 copy of MW3 is HMV’s loss, not Bethesda’s.

Bethesda are an example to other developers out there (EA, Ubisoft, Activision). No download code, no holding back content on the disc for dlc. Just a fantastic game that is worth every penny. Isn’t it odd that a great game sells in the millions and crap over produced games don’t.

I might get it when the price drops because I still have other games to play and I’m not really a big fan of such open world RPGs.
I wonder how it compares to The Witcher 2, which is what I’m enjoying very much at the moment.
